I’m not a big fan of birthdays (especially bc I’m getting old af), but this year feels a little different…the last two years of my life have been painful, difficult, and eye opening to say the least. I’ve been trying so hard to dig myself out of a really low place, and I’ve made huge progress over the last 6 months. There were days I didn’t want to get out of bed. There were days I’d hope I wouldn’t wake up. But God, my love, my baby boy, and my closest friends got me through the days I never thought I’d make it through. All of you guys have been such a blessing, too - even though I dropped off the face of the earth, y’all didn’t forget about me and have continued to support my business. That means so much!

This is the last year of my 30s, and even though that makes me wanna puke, I’m gonna close out this decade with my best year yet! So Happy Birthday to me! 🥳🎉🎂🎊

PS - My man is taking me on a little weekend getaway to Fredericksburg, so forgive me in advance for any silly stories I may post 😜

Just in case you’re unsure of what to look for when searching for a hair and makeup artist (or team) let me help you out and break it down!

✨LOOK AT THEIR STYLE
Is it natural? Is it glam? Is it what you’re looking for? Don’t book a natural artist if you’re wanting glam, and don’t book a glam artist if you want natural. You will be disappointed. Scour your artists portfolio, do you see the exact looks that you’re wanting for your wedding? If not, keep looking. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I am not the artist to hire if you want glitter, black smoky eyes, and super heavy makeup. Can I do it? Yes. Am I going to do it? No. And I can guarantee you that every other artist who has a specific style is going to feel the same way!

✨EXPERIENCE
How long as your artist been in the wedding industry, or doing hair and makeup in general? Now don’t get me wrong, just because someone has been doing something longer than someone else, doesn’t mean that they are better… But there is a big difference in every day hair and makeup and wedding hair and makeup. Does your artist have experience with weddings? Does your artist have experience in doing faces other than her own? Just because someone is good at doing their own makeup, doesn’t mean that they are going to be good at doing yours! And please, don’t book an artist based on price alone… Most experienced artists are going to charge their worth, while more inexperienced artists are going to offer lower, discounted prices. I understand that everyone has a budget, but hair and makeup should be one of your top priorities because if you don’t look good, nothing else is going to look good.

✨KNOWLEDGE
I feel like this one is self explanatory, but we will touch on it anyway. Does your artist seem knowledgeable? Do they know their products, do they know what will work on every skin type, hair type, can they match any skin tone (OMG THIS IS A BIG ONE)? Please pay attention to these things, they are important!

All of this to say - take your time, ask questions, do your research, and book according to your style. You won’t regret it!
