Blenko - Glass Palace Session - Kindred Valley We welcomed Huntington band Kindred Valley out to the second-floor Museum in our Visitor Center, in front of our historical stained glass. It was the golden ...

Went for a nice drive to pick up our auction items and met Nicklas Estate Sales and Liquidators, LLC who were kind enough to demonstrate one of their unboxing’s from a cool collection. Now that’s serious packing. Lovely pieces, I look forward to seeing their next sale.

Went personal shopping for a vacation…look where I ended up in the store. I’m a vintage glass hunter by preference but it’s so cool to see new pretty glass out and about. This was Kohl’s in Branson. Also guess where we’re going.

Long post warning. A true glass hunter story:

First I have to confess this is not a story about glass but an artist made clay pottery bowl from Eureka Springs AR, in my neck of the woods by way of the crow. The first piece (my first auction) I found of this artist was quickly bought on eBay by the artist's friend and I learned he (another artist potter) was making a memorial collection of his long passed friend's work. He asked if I had any other pieces of this artist and in fact I did, a very different styled vase that had the same signature, EAGAN. I decided to gift this second vase to him as I'd made a nice profit on the first piece and this story touched my heart having been married in Eureka Springs elopement style many years ago. If you have not visited, I highly recommend any art festival in Eureka, especially in the Fall or Spring months. I told the artist I would keep an eye out for the pottery and I have not seen any since.

Well it has been a year now that I have been chasing glass treasures (and ceramic, wood, clay, metal-I know I am crazy...). This past week I happened to see what looked just like that first clay bowl in a photo online for a local estate sale. I had not been hunting (aka shopping) much lately as I really need to focus on selling but this was a challenge accepted!
The house was a big handsome one at the very top of a hilly manicured drive and I didn't make it to the opening time, so many folks had been through before me. When I did make it I beelined for the fireplace and it was the wrong one, there were two of course in that house. I rounded the corner off the kitchen and found the room I needed to be in but the vase was gone! I looked at the online photos again to make sure and yes, this was its location. I didn't give up but I did decide to shop the sale and keep looking as I knew sometimes folks pick up and rearrange the sale items, putting something down that they changed their mind about.

The A/C was not working well and it was a packed house on a hot summer Ozarks day so with lots of excuse me's and so forth I meandered around this large home enjoying the collections of someone's life and thinking about life in general. I adore estate sales, I didn't think I would but I do. I know life is about love of people and pets but the things we collect are fascinating too. This collection of life was very pretty and interesting but again, I'm on a glass hunting diet still so I held back on any urges and only chose one decanter. I was heading my way back through the front room, the one with the first fireplace, and had been through it twice already. Suddenly I notice it, the small white vase sitting on an almost empty white end table stacked on another so it was almost eye level. I picked it up with a thrill and checked the base to see EAGAN scrawled on the bottom. It did have break though, the tip of a calla lily flower leaf but I heard a chinkle sound when I turned it over and sure enough inside was the broken tip. I bought that vase, the decanter and two brooches (just because) and here we are today with the treasures. I will be offering this vase to the man in Eureka soon. I hope he likes it. Have a blessed week everyone.

Just a little light summer glass hunting lately for us with projects everywhere at our place. I did manage to start a bottle tree which makes me want to hunt bottles now 😆 Happy Summer!

Stratification is defined as the layering that occurs in most sedimentary rocks and in those igneous rocks formed at the Earth's surface.

Inspired by this occurrence, our ‘Strata’ collection mimics the design of stratified rock, leading to stunning textured glass pieces!
