On behalf of the Springfield FMBA Local 57 it is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the unexptected passing of FF/EMT Tony DeCampos. Tony was a member of Local 57 for over 10 years as well as a member of NJ Task Force One. Tony was taken from us far too soon, leaving behind a profound void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He had a big heart and loved fishing, cooking, and most importantly his family. His infectious laughter and his unwavering kindness defined him.
Tony's legacy lives on through his children, family, and memories of his time and service. Rest easy brother, we will take it from here.
Thank you for your sacrifice on that day
On Thursday, on duty Memebers attended the job fair at Jonathan Dayton high school to share a little about the job of a firefighter and share knowledge of the path to a job in the fire service to some potential future firefighters.
We hope that everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day but took the time to remember the fallen.
This morning, Springfield First Aid Squad stood by with Springfield Fire & Police to pay our respects to Millburn Police Officer Luke Lyons as his funeral procession traveled past Meisel Park.
As we enjoy a long weekend, BBQ with friends and family, or any activity this weekend, let's not forget why we can enjoy these freedoms. Thank you to those that made the ultimate sacrifice defending and protecting our nation.
During the month of April, on duty Members may have been spotted wearing our Autism Awareness shirts in support of Autism awareness month. As a follow up to our support, the President and Vice President of Springfield FMBA local 57 made a special visit to Children's Specialized Hospital to hand deliver a donation to support the amazing work and care Childrens Specialized delivers to its patients and residents. We are proud to be able to help and look forward to developing a future relationship.
A great day of "Bring your kids to work day". Thanks to Springfield Police Department and Springfield First Aid Squad for the joint efforts making today a great success. We may have some future first responders on our hands.
Congratulations from your Brothers and Sisters in Springfield, wishing you the best in your next chapter
Summit Firefighters FMBA Local #54 wishes Firefighter Tim Duetsch a happy, healthy, and long retirement! Tim worked his final shift today after 27 years of service to the City. He served many roles in Local #54 with dedication and the NJ FMBA as the Central District Vice President for the last 11 years. Tim helped to improve working conditions for countless members across his district and the entire State. Thank you for everything Tim!
Very sad to hear of this unexpected death. Rip brother
The Department is profoundly saddened to share the unexpected passing of active Firefighter Hugh Cahill.
FF Cahill was a 17 year veteran of the department, joining in 2007. Throughout his tenure, Hugh was a very active member and familiar face at the majority of our events and public appearances. During our holiday fundraisers, he was an even more familiar face than many would ever realize.
FF Cahill never turned down an opportunity to help the department in anyway possible. He provided mentorship to new members within the department, fostering a culture of support and guidance. His dedication to helping others was a hallmark of his service, leaving an enduring impact on those fortunate enough to have known him.
Notably, FF Cahill managed the coordination of our aluminum can cart. An effort that has raised thousands of dollars to benefit the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation.
He embodied the definition of a community volunteer, but above all else was a dedicated husband and father. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and three children Caitlin, Liam, and Sarah.
Hugh will be deeply missed well beyond just our department, but the entire community.
May he rest in peace.
