POV: Your local farmers market changes lives Happy Farmers Market Appreciation Week! Our staff pick up fruits and veggies from vendors at the Greater Springfield Farmers' Market every week and deliver it directly to our partner hunger-relief charities. Charities include Boys & Girls Clubs, senior centers, shelters, food pantries, churches and more. Hundreds of kids and adults facing hunger have access to fresh, local produce thanks to the farmers at the farmers market! And the program is a win-win, since a lot of the food donated is surplus fruits and veggies that didn't sell at the market but is still perfect for eating. That means less food in landfills and more veggies on our neighbors' plates. Some farmers even set aside produce ahead of time that they want to donate to The Food Bank. A huge thank you to the Greater Springfield Farmers' Market for being an incredible partner and positive impact in the community!
