O'Reilly has been an invaluable partner in the fight to end hunger in the Ozarks, including donating their time to help sort and pack food for their neighbors facing hunger. This week, O'Reilly Auto Parts staff helped provide more than 17,000 meals during their volunteer session! Thank you!

According to Feeding America's newest Map the Meal Gap study, hunger rates in southwest Missouri have risen from 1 in 7 people facing hunger to 1 in 5 children and 1 in 6 adults now worried about where their next meal is coming from. Many people like Elaine are visiting food pantries for the very first time to get back on their feet as they deal with increased costs of food, housing and childcare. Together, we can help our neighbors like Elaine find the food they need to get through tough times.

Thank you, Elaine, for sharing your story with us. Community support is crucial right now as the number of people seeking food assistance from our network exceeds the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Your gift today will be the boost our neighbors need to thrive. Visit ozarksfoodharvest.org/donate to make your gift now.

POV: Your local farmers market changes lives

Happy Farmers Market Appreciation Week!
Our staff pick up fruits and veggies from vendors at the Greater Springfield Farmers' Market every week and deliver it directly to our partner hunger-relief charities. Charities include Boys & Girls Clubs, senior centers, shelters, food pantries, churches and more. Hundreds of kids and adults facing hunger have access to fresh, local produce thanks to the farmers at the farmers market!

And the program is a win-win, since a lot of the food donated is surplus fruits and veggies that didn't sell at the market but is still perfect for eating. That means less food in landfills and more veggies on our neighbors' plates. Some farmers even set aside produce ahead of time that they want to donate to The Food Bank.

A huge thank you to the Greater Springfield Farmers' Market for being an incredible partner and positive impact in the community!

We've been thinking lately about our very first gleaning partner, Fassnight Creek Farm.

Our Full Circle Gardens program has been working with Dan at Fassnight Creek Farm for 10 years. This partnership kicked off a thriving gleaning program that has now expanded to nearly 50 other partner farms and gardens and provided around 69,000 pounds of produce for our neighbors in need last year. Since our partnership first began, Fassnight Creek Farms has donated more than 50,000 pounds of fresh produce to the community.

Thank you Dan and everyone involved in gleans at Fassnight Creek Farms! You're helping rescue thousands of pounds of excess produce that we can share with people who need it.

Introducing the seven generous volunteers who've been selected for their passion and dedication to be a part of Ozarks Food Harvest’s first Volunteer Ambassador Program.

Volunteer Ambassadors help Ozarks Food Harvest engage the community by serving as representatives at community events, speaking engagements and volunteer sessions. One of the best ways to end hunger in southwest Missouri is to raise awareness of the issue, and we know Betsy and Mario Esquivel, Mary Keidle, Mary Magnus, Cindy McDonough, Amy Viets-Cooper and Lona Wait have what it takes be representatives for The Food Bank.

Students from the Missouri Agribusiness Academy recently visited our Food Bank Farm to learn about food banking, hunger relief, composting, gardening best practices, sustainability and more! Farmers and growers are the backbone of our food systems and play a critical role in the fight to end hunger. Our staff loved hosting this educational field trip for future agriculturists.

We were especially touched by the thank you notes MAbA students sent to the Full Circle Gardens team. Thank you for helping us grow food for our neighbors in need! These students give us hope for the future!
