Settle Photography
Car and truck photography with a unique bend.
I find grocery stores to be truly magical places. It doesn't matter where you enter or what you want, it will be on the opposite side of the store in the back. If you want a second thing, it will reside the furthest possible distance from the first.
And if you find the first item without a cart, you will suddenly need the bathroom, again on the opposite side of the store.
First and probably last eclipse shoot, finally done.
First result from yesterday.

Since our big, and final move, we are going through box after box of stuff. Some of that stuff is page after page of old images. Here is one taken around 1990 at a car show. Saturday evening was their traditional parade. The entrance criteria was that your car had to have gas lights. No electricity allowed.
I connected with David Mills Studio a few days ago. We had both been in a show at Xanadu Gallery last year. He does oil paintings and has a body of work involving old cars.
If you are interested in car paintings, you should check out his work. It's great stuff.

Last one for the night: 1938 Ford Firetruck. The V8 in the grill differentiates it from a 1939. And those are the only two years that the oval grill was available.

1939 Desoto
This is a 1960s Renault Caravelle. Don't recall ever seeing one in the time, but it was a cool car.
1950s? VW Bus. If you have a better date, please leave a comment. Maybe the bumper shape gives a better year.

When a car has moss growing on it, you're not in Colorado.
1936 Pontiac
This is a 1938 Ford Pickup. The oval grill was only available for two years - '38 and '39. And, although the truck is a '38, the grill is a '39. The '38 grill had the period 'V8' insignia that disappeared for '39.
Ok friends. The Center for Fine Art Photography is currently showing. I am now thinking about next year's entry.
Last year, my entry was a person, a welder specifically. This year my image is a 1950 Ford Pickup portrait.
Next year I want to enter another person (shocking, I know). I am looking for ideas or even specific names. Specifically, I am looking for a blue collar worker who gets dirty during the day and is tired at the end of it. Of course the person needs an employer who wouldn't mind me coming in and doing my thing. It is even better if the work environment is rather dark.
You can find examples of my work at http://www.settlephotography.com/working-hands-1/
I am pleased to let everyone know that, for the second year in a row, one of my images as been accepted in the Portrait Show at the Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins. The show is running now through 2/25.
This is a sad reminder. If you shoot seniors, and your client insists on track shots, at least know of some unused track. Active track is polished by traffic; unused track is rusty on top. Any active track nearby can be hazardous as moving trains can throw rock used in the bed. And remember that you will still be trespassing.
Selfie Tragedy Forever Impacts Those Left Behind Essa Ricker and Kelsea Webster, both 15, and Kelsea’s little sister, Savannah, waved at a westbound train crew and squeezed in for a selfie as it rolled through Utah’s scenic Spanish Fork Canyon October 2011.
A little bit of Colorado: Crystal Mill.
1939 Cadillac. Some times, many times, space around a car is in very short supply. As much as I would like to shoot larger shots and more details, it is just not possible for every car. So, you do what you can.

Another car; a new direction. No rust. 1969 Camaro.
