Mayor Rob Rue
When I graduated Springfield North High School in 1988, my class size was over 300 students. Today about 1/3 of those graduates live here in Springfield.
I will work with local organizations to help make Springfield attractive for new business and industry. I have 5 children and I would like to see them have the opportunity to live in their hometown, like I did. We must make more effort to stop the "brain drain" in Springfield!
Ohio Mayors Alliance press conference
On December 14th I attended my first Ohio Mayors Alliance meeting. This is a group of mayors from the 30 largest cities in Ohio. The purpose of this bipartisan group is to have a collective voice on important issues concerning our cities. We discussed public safety, unfunded state mandates, school funding, and immigration. The meeting also included a press conference.

I couldn’t be more supportive of my friend Kyle Koehler and his run for State Senate! He is a great leader and an excellent communicator! During his time as State Representative, he was very engaged in helping Springfield and Clark County move forward! Kyle listens to the people he represents and refuses to sit idle. Thanks for running Kyle!

As community leaders, we need to resolve these concerns so the entire community can benefit from the growth we are experiencing. There is a solution to moving forward and there is risk to growth but fear will absolutely paralyze wisdom.
Below are quotes from Commissioner Melanie Wilt and myself from this article:
“We would like to have a better relationship with Springfield Twp. and their leadership, we would like to work hand-in-hand to grow these areas,” Rue said.
“We don’t like to be in conflict but we will push forward with an agenda that is better for the community,” said Rue.
Flax Wilt said the county would like to see Melody Parks developer Borror, the city, the township and the school district all work together to make the development “beneficial for all parties.”
“We want to send the message that we are open for development, that we are welcoming to people who love this community as much as we do,” Flax Wilt said.

The Clark County Sheriff's Office has made it official!
Today we are sending extra thoughts and prayers to our Clark County Sheriff's Office family, to the family and friends of Deputy Matthew Yates, and to our Springfield and Clark County communities.
At the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall in Washington D.C., where Deputy Yates' name will forever be etched, there is a quote that reads, "It is not how these officers died that made them heroes, it is how they lived." Deputy Yates was the epitome of a servant leader, and he served his community with distinction and honor. The Springfield Police Division stands beside the Clark County Sheriff's Office in honoring Deputy Yates' memory and forever carrying on his light.
My Dad believed in Springfield and was at first very nervous about me getting involved in city government. He soon realized I was able to express my passion, which was like his, and make decisions to help move Springfield forward. I’m thankful that Dad in many ways pushed me to be my best.
