Tag families…you’re it!
We had our Family Read In and Picnic on Wednesday. It was a beautiful day for families to enjoy reading their summer books and lunch together. We loved all the books being read and time spent with families.📖🧺☀️
Today was our award ceremony and one of our favorite awards to give out is our Volunteer award. This years recipient is Casaundra Patterson. Casaundra has given hours to our school, so much so that we joke about her being an honorary staff member. She was always up for any task that we asked her to do and Fairview is a better place because of her. Her last child leaves us this year and she will be missed very much.
Casaundra, thank you for all that you have done for us and the joy you bring anytime you are around!
A big thank you to NSCOC and First Christian Church of Springfield, IL (group) for loving on our staff this week! Pastor Duane delivered pizza for lunch one day and the crew from 1st Christian provide breakfast. We are so thankful to these two Community Partners who are intentional in taking care of us!
It’s time for our annual Nelson’s Chicken Dinner Fundraiser!

Did you know tomorrow is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day? If you are sending a kiddo on the bus tomorrow here are some things you can do to appreciate our drivers and monitors:
• Have your student make a thank you card
• Ask your student to give them a high five and
an extra “thank you”
• Grab a little treat to let them know you
appreciate them
• Go out of your way to greet them in the
morning with a smile as your student gets on
the bus
Mrs. Miller, our Face Liaison, and some of our Kindergarten team are headed out to do home visits today! Visiting incoming Kindergarten families to invite them to K-Night! We love meeting our new families!
This morning Marlee found a $20 bill on the playground and turned it in to an adult! After a little investigating we found its owner! It was Taliyah’s book fair money that she accidentally dropped, she was so thankful!!
Marlee…we are incredibly proud of you for doing the right thing!
This morning Mrs.Miller was picking up trash that had been dumped in front of our school. As soon as Scarlett and Rykan saw what she was doing they jumped right in and help!
Talk about a great example of showing kindness without being asked! We are super proud of these two!
This is one of our Grandpa’s who drops his Granddaughter off every day.
They had a little extra fun this morning!! ❄️❄️❄️
A BIG shout out to our district U-Crew!! We have been without our beloved basketball hoops since construction. Today brand new hoops were installed. We had some happy students at recess!
THANK YOU U-Crew, we appreciate all that you do for our schools! 🏀🏀🏀
We are basically pros at e-learning now!!
🫠😝☺️ But we can’t wait to see everyone in person tomorrow!!
We had another great day of E-Learning! Thank you to all the grown-ups who helped our Falcons log in today. There was so much excitement and learning happening in all of the Google Meet rooms! We had over 80% of our students in attendance!!
Check out these students learning! Keep an 👀out for a little siblings learning, a guine pig, dog, kittens and Spider-Man!!
Today we kicked off Real Men Read, a program District 186 is doing in every 3rd grade class.
📚📚📚
Each month our guest readers will join Mr. McKinney and Mrs. Zoll’s class to read a book. The best part? Each student will receive the book our readers read to take home for their home library.
Today our readers read “Those Shoes”. Our classes enjoyed getting to know their guest reader and we can’t wait for them to join us again next month!
Thank you Mr. Bryan and Mr. Josh for joining our Fairview Family as Real Men Read readers.
Check out these amazing E-Learners!
❄️🥶💻✏️🖍️📚
Welcome back Fairview!! Look at these cuties on the District’s page. See anyone you recognize?
One thing is for sure….if you run into Mrs.Miller in the “wild” she will force you into a selfie!
Happy Christmas Eve from she and Jace! 🎄🎅🏻
We are proud and honored to call the Bohlen Family ours!!

Today was our annual Cops, Kids and Christmas event. 👮🏼👮🏾♂️🎄🎅🏻🛒
50ish of our Fairview students were invited to the Walmart on Dirksen. Families had breakfast together and then students selected a police officer and went on a shopping spree together. The excitement was felt by everyone!
So many people to thanks!
THANK YOU to the PBPA Unit #5 who make this happen every year! A special thanks to Officer Tami for organizing it. And to all the Springfield Police Department - Illinois officers and some of their families who shopped with our students.

Feeling very thankful over here! 🦃🦃
We had 35 families reach out and let us know they could use help with Thanksgiving Baskets. One of our Community Partners,
NSCOC immediately told us “yes” when we asked if they could help with 15.
Our Family and Community Engagement Team decided during our November meeting that we would put together 20 baskets to ensure every family who asked would receive one. Another one of our Community Partners
First Christian Church of Springfield, IL (group) heard about the need during that meeting and told us they would be happy to provide 20 turkeys. We sent an email out to our Fairview families asking them to provide the sides for the baskets. Within 48 hours over 200 items were claimed!
Today, these amazing 5th graders helped put together 20 baskets, or in this case bags. Each one will have a turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, yams with mini marshmallows, stuffing, and a pie of their choice!
We are so thankful to our families and Community Partners for making sure all of our families have a warm Thanksgiving meal.
Happy Birthday to our Board Member Sarah Blissitt. Ms. Blissitt is at every event she can be at and is one of the first ones to jump in to volunteer. We are so appreciative of her support around Fairview! We hope you have a great day Sarah Blissett for District 186
A few more Fall Festival posts headed your way. A HUGE thank to our staff and families who volunteered. We literally could not pull this off every year without these amazing volunteers (and the many more we didn’t get pictures of).
Go check out the fun surprise we had for our students yesterday!

Fun Fact about our Fall Festival:
We had 57 District 186 students volunteer from various Middle and High Schools! Isn’t that incredible? Our favorite is when we have Fairview students return to volunteer. 💙
These schools had student volunteers:
Lanphier High School
Southeast High School
Springfield High School
Franklin Middle School
Grant Middle School
Lincoln Magnet School
Washington Middle School
We also had a handful of recent 186 graduates come back to volunteer! We are so thankful for our student volunteers, there is no way we could pull off our Fall Festival without them!
