$100,000 in funding secured for the Cliff Effect Pilot Program as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) state budget ✅
Among 13 amendments I was able to secure for FY25 is an earmark for Springfield WORKS, which will receive $100,000 to operate the Cliff Effect Pilot Program in partnership with Baystate Health, Holyoke Community College and Springfield Partners for Community Action, Inc. The “cliff effect” is a structural flaw in our public benefits systems that impacts working families when a wage increase pushes a household slightly above the maximum income limits of a public benefit they depend on. This triggers a loss or decrease in benefits, leaving them worse off and unable to cover basic expenses.
It’s almost time!
