We recently changed our shop hours! We are now closed on Sundays. 🕑

The Indian Orchard Mill is a historic work building without air conditioning. It gets very hot up here on the third floor! With that said, we may adjust hours on especially hotter days as summer weather arrives. It's a good idea for walk-ins to call ahead to make sure we're here.

Thank you all for your support. Now let the long summer days begin! ☀️

This drawing is by Anja Rozen, a 13 year old primary school student in Slovenia. She was chosen from 600,000 children around the world to create a piece of art to show what peace looks like. She is the winner of the international Plakat Miru competition.

“My drawing represents the land that binds us and unites us.” Humans are woven together. If someone gives up, others fall. We are all connected to our planet and to each other, but unfortunately we are little aware of it. We are woven together. Other people weave alongside me my own story; and I weave theirs," said the young designer

These unique drawings are by artist Yanick Lapuh. We were so intrigued to hear the creating process that we have to share:

Yanick, 71, created each of these pieces while having conversations with his adult children. Flipping the paper around to reach all sides, he says he "draws their conversations" as they go. There is no specific direction or goal for the artistic result. Each mark and line is drawn simply while being in the moment.

To no surprise, we are once again inspired by another great artist. 😊

We ❤️ our artists.

Facebook community, please chime in! We have this open space above our Epson printer that needs some pizzazz. What kind of art should we display up there? An XL photograph? A digitized illustration? Something fluorescent and abstract?

Feel welcome to save the photo and doodle away in the comments. 🖌

The word's out that we have the ability to digitize artworks. We shared our high-resolution scanner method a couple of weeks back. But did you know there's another way we can digitize art?

Option 1: High-Res Scan
Option 2: Photography

Each method produces excellent quality for print reproductions, but the processes look much different from the other.

With photography, we turn our print shop into a "portrait studio", fit with two natural light soft boxes, and professional light meter measurements, ensuring each section of the artwork will be as evenly exposed to the next.

We won't lie to you- this method takes a bit more preparation than our scanned digitizations. You're probably thinking, "So why do it that way when you have a scanner?"

We reserve the photographic option for certain criteria artworks that may be considered fragile, super-multidimensional, or considerably large.

This large, mixed media painting with real gold flake fit that criteria enough for us. ✨️

"Primavera" Oil and gold flake on canvas by artist Tanya Miller.

(A very grateful shout-out to our friend Matt Freeman for building+mounting our art rig for us. Whatta guy! 🛠 )

The sunny dandelions around the today are a bright promise of even more sunny days to come. Dandelions are a wonderful symbol of hope, resilience, and healing. How fitting that they are among the first to bloom after our cold, rough winters!

With spring finally here, you can find us in the shop wrapping up lots of printing+framing projects for the wave of springtime art shows, gallery openings, and creative celebrations kicking off all over. It's a great time for artists to emerge and embrace the blooming possibilities of tomorrow. 💛

PS: A heads up that the Giclée shop will be CLOSED on Easter Sunday, 3/31. 🐇🐣

So you've got an art piece you're ready to hang on the wall.

You found the perfect frame. You already knew which color mat from the start. We're ready to get this- wait! You almost forgot your glass!

We have three different types of glass here at Giclée. We have our "regular" aka Conservation Clear glass, Anti-Glare glass, and our super luxurious Museum quality glass.

This part of the framing process can feel intimidating at first, but thankfully the difference in these is pretty CLEAR when you put them side by side. 😁

Our regular Conservation Clear glass is a straightforward glass. Nothing too fancy about it, but its superpower is that it's our most affordable AND protects your piece from fading with its 99% UV Protection qualities. You just can't beat it... well, unless you're a stickler for reflections...

The Anti-Glare glass softens reflections, making your framed piece easy to see in different lighting without any harsh glare.

The Museum glass takes our Anti-Glare to another level. It removes even more reflection than the Anti-Glare, and makes it look like there's NO glass at all. It's simply one of those "must-sees" in person because it continues to blow our minds whenever we see the glassy reflections practically disappear.

All three of these are UV Protected, which is in our humble opinion, one of the most important details of having anything framed. Who wants nice things looking faded in 2 years? Not us. Bring in your nice things and we'll help take care of that. 🌞

Did You Know: Digitizing artworks is one of our favorite things to do. This is a small sized mixed media piece, made on a watercolor paper. We might make this look easy, but there's some finicky chemistry behind getting our pigmented inks to match true paint, and it can oftentimes take hours to complete a single artpiece! We match colors as closely as possible, printing multiple proofs in the process to make this happen.

This piece took 4 proof adjustments, and our Elegance Velvet textured paper was the perfect choice for replicating the original paper... you almost can't even tell which one is the original. (Afterall, that's the goal.) Like a beautiful butterfly emerging from its cocoon, the wait is worth it every time. 🦋

Artists, check in! What projects are you working on this week? Can we get a peek? Tag your page in the comments or link your website, especially if you sell prints. You never know who's looking. 😁

Happy Sunday ✌️

This custom matted+framed piece made for a busy day in the shop today. We don't get extra large projects like this too often, but when we do... 👏

And that's a wrap on our official first open house event! 🥳 A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who attended, shared our event, brought food, purchased tees+stickers, and helped us make this such an unforgettable day. It wouldn't have been nearly the same without all of our fabulous guests who came from near and far!

Here's a video taken at the end of the event tonight. When we were getting ready to purchase the business, we decided to start out on the right foot and invested in a brand new Canon GP4000 44" printer. We had not taken the protective plastic off the window, but wanted to wait for a special occasion... a "ribbon cutting ceremony"! 🎀

Oh- and if anyone has any photos from today, please share them with us in the comments! We sincerely appreciate every single person who walked through our doors today and hope that you come back again soon. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The future is bright, and we've been full of bright ideas... Literally. 💡

New gallery wall track lights, installed. ✔️

We could just be a printing and framing business. Replicating, printing, and framing artwork of many colorful talents, then watching it get picked up and gone out the door. Or, we can do a teeny bit more. We want to show artists their art deserves a beautiful display under bright lights. We believe in the power of artists and want them to believe in themselves too. So we've made a gallery wall. Everything we do that is deemed "ready-to-hang" will have its own bright moment before leaving our shop.

We're artists working for artists. To us, this just makes sense.

01/19/2024

Attention all ARTISTS! Do you have masterpieces in your creative corner that you'd love to share with the world? 👨‍🎨

Our walls here at Giclée are currently pretty bare... 🙈

We need your help in bringing some color, texture, and vibrance to our space just in time for our open house! Our only request is that your art is ready-to-hang via wire. We encourage you to price your art for sale, and in return would kindly request a 30% portion from any purchased pieces.

Please submit your art to us by Sunday, January 28th. Art pieces will be on display during the entire month of February. Send us a direct message with your sizing of art, as display space is limited! 🖼
