“You can’t separate peace from freedom, because no one can be at peace unless he has his freedom.”
– Malcolm X
On this day in 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people be freed. Today we celebrate equality, liberation, and, of course, freedom!
In observance of this important day, APO will be closed for all services. We will resume on Thursday, June 20th.
Have you heard about Medetomidine? This is a newly present tranquilizer similar to xylazine recently detected in the drug supply in Chicago. This drug is known to have an increased risk for overdose as it causes significant sedation, dehydration, and hallucinations. This makes it even more important to carry Naloxone to protect our fellow community members.
Please stop by either of our APO locations to pick up some Naloxone, together we can stop overdose!
Take the guesswork out of preventing HIV. With PrEP you can take a pill once a day to prevent HIV up to 99%. One pill between you and peace of mind of knowing you're protected. What are you waiting for? Give us a call and get a jump start on your peace of mind today at 417-881-1900.

We all know that condoms can prevent unwanted pregnancy, but did you know they also prevent STIs & HIV? Condoms are one of our best defenses when it comes to our s*xual health. You can pick up free condoms at either of our APO locations at any time, we've got you covered!
Get the facts – emergency contraception (EC) is not the abortion pill, so EC is not impacted by Missouri’s abortion ban.
EC is…
☑️ legal
☑️ safe
☑️ available for free from Missouri Family Health Council, Inc. at either of our offices or at: MFHC.org/EC
Choosing how we are speaking about STIs is crucial to making people feel comfortable when seeking out medical care around their s*xual health diagnoses. Words can do a lot of damage and can even keep someone from seeking the treatment they need. More testing. More treatment. Better health.
Let your flag fly at Ozark Pridefest! APO will be offering testing as well as tons of information, resources and swag! Stop by and help us celebrate Pride month!
What does being "undetectable" even mean?
Individuals living with HIV who take their medication as prescribed can reach a viral load so low that it can't be detected. At this threshold, HIV isn't spread to their partners. U=U means safety and the ability to protect the ones we love.
June 5 is HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day. First observed in 2014, it’s a day to honor long-term survivors of HIV and raise awareness about their needs, issues, and journeys.
Today we wish to shed light on the resilience of those who have lived with HIV the longest and push for continued support for them.
At APO we want to make sure we're meeting everyone where they are on their journey in life and give them the best care and resources. It's no secret that APO offers free condoms, but did you know that you can order them directly to your front door? Once every 30 days, you can receive free condoms by ordering on our website at https://www.playsafe417.org. It couldn't be easier to keep yourself protected against STIs!
Finding a safe space in healthcare can be challenging but at APO we promise to provide a safe environment to receive the care you need. No matter who you are, you are deserving of patience and care.
If you believe someone is experiencing an overdose, you should always try Naloxone while paramedics are on the way. The best part? You can't hurt someone by administering it when it's not an opioid overdose. Narcan can ONLY help someone in need. It goes without saying, it would be more harmful to stand idle when Narcan exists!
Share the good news 🎉 Free emergency contraception (EC) kits are available at our Glenstone and downtown locations from MFHC! Anyone of any age can pick up a kit. Want more info? Stop by or visit MFHC.org/EC
