How car culture colonised our thinking – and our language We have become used to thinking about things from a driver’s perspective – but is that the sort of world we want?

"Observe your thoughts, don't believe them." ~ Eckhart Tolle
Not just on thanksgiving, focus your attention on something simple you’re grateful for. It can be as small as the fact that you’re breathing. Try to hold this thought for as long as you can. If your mind drifts, give thanks for returning focus. Try this for a week and make note of any difference in stress level.
If you find yourself waking up an hour early due to the time change instead of forcing yourself to sleep in or getting mad you woke up an hour early consider sipping your coffee a little longer, taking a little bit more time to enjoy your breakfast, and giving yourself a little more time to get to work. Observe how this affects your whole day.
Take a moment to check in with your mind and body. Is there muscle tension? Are your thoughts racing or calm? Observe your breathing rate. Do this frequently, it’ll help you be more present but also give you space to determine if you need to change something.
And learning to observe first also gives you space to choose your response to a situation.
Or physical illness/injury.
Yes.
How you do the small things is how you do the big things.
Steven Aitchison

Slow down, breathe, focus on your immediate surroundings. Too often we get preoccupied with the next thing, place, etc and we don’t notice what we have.

“Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”
