If you haven’t registered to vote yet, there’s still time! In-person grace period registration and voting is available today at the office of the election authority or other designated locations.
Here’s what to know before you go vote:
You don’t need to show an ID to cast your ballot unless you registered to vote by mail without submitting an ID at that time. Acceptable forms of ID must show your name and address (ex. photo ID, utility bill, paycheck, residential lease or contract, student ID, government document).
Polls will be open from 6 AM–7 PM. If you’re in line by 7 PM, stay in line! You will be allowed to vote. Illinois voters can cast their ballots in one primary of their choice.
Are you vote ready? Don't forget the primary election, tomorrow, March 19.
Yesterday was our last day of service projects! We spent the morning at Medshare weighing medical supply packages. After lunch, we headed back to Medshare and sorted medical supplies. To end the night, we had our team dinner at R Thomas Deluxe Grill and stopped at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams🍨 We are now on our way back to IL!
Yesterday we spent our morning at Medshare organizing medical supplies. Medshare collects excess supplies from here in the U.S. and sends them to places around the world in need.
After lunch, we went to the Georgia Aquarium and saw the dolphin show. Then, we walked across the street and saw Olympic Park. To finish out the night, we stopped at the Atlanta Fair.
This morning we volunteered at Trees Atlanta. Our goal was to remove Japanese honeysuckle which is an invasive species to the trees on the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum.
After lunch, we went to the World of Coca-Cola and the Lenox Square Mall.
Yesterday we started our morning at Urban Recipe doing pallet prep. This entailed packing foods onto pallets to help provide food security for families in the community. The community is divided into co-ops and the pallets are loaded based on co-op size & preferences. After pallets are wrapped, they are delivered to the co-ops and the families work together to divide the food amongst each other.
During our lunch break, we stopped at a coffee shop that was across the street from our second volunteer location.
Our afternoon service project was at Open Hand. We were in the kitchen packaging meals that will be delivered to those with severe illnesses. Medically tailored meals are delivered to individuals living with severe illness and who are homebound through a referral from a medical professional or healthcare plan. Meals are specifically designed for their diagnosis, as well as the additional complications that come with that illness. Their medically tailored meals are prepared and cooked in an effort to improve health outcomes, because Open Hand believes food is medicine.(unfortunately no pics to show as wearing hairnets is a humbling experience)
The Prairie Stars Service Trip made it to Atlanta, GA! Stopped at Buc-ee’s to see what the hype was about. Service projects start tomorrow.
