American International College (AIC) will hold a Transfer Day, designed to assist prospective transfer students with their AIC applications. The event, taking place on Thursday, August 15th from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at AIC’s James J. Shea Sr. Library, will provide personalized guidance to students at any stage of the application process.
During Transfer Day, AIC’s Admissions team will offer one-on-one support tailored to the specific needs of prospective students, whether they are starting a new application or completing an existing one. Attendees will receive expert assistance with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), understanding the cost of attendance, and exploring majors and programs that align with their interests and career goals.

Last week, children from Square One School-Age Summer Program and Springfield Boys & Girls Club, Inc. hit a home run of a day at our Butova Gym, thanks to the Red Sox Foundation ’s “PLAY BALL” initiative!⚾️
With Red Sox Foundation staff, along with AIC’s softball and baseball student athletes and coaches, the young ones had a blast learning the basics of fielding, hitting, and throwing. It was a day packed with high-fives (with Wally the Green Monster!!!), big swings, and endless smiles!

The program's Gina Sanderson and CJ Degree Completion Coordinator Mike Stevens met with the Lawrence Police Department on July 30 to share the good news that graduates are now eligible for the Police Career Incentive Pay Program known as the Quinn Bill. AIC is proud to share the inspiring journey of Femita Ayanbeku, a 2014 alumna, who is set to compete in the Paris Paralympic Games this August. Ayanbeku’s story is one of resilience, determination, and triumph, reflecting the core values of our institution.
Ayanbeku grew up in Boston and chose AIC for her higher education. During her time in Springfield, she overcame significant challenges related to her disability. Initially struggling with negative thoughts about her amputated limb and prosthesis, Ayanbeku says her experience at the College played a crucial role in transforming her perspective!

While Courniotes Hall is still in the early stages of redevelopment and reconstruction, we are excited to share some promising news. The adjacent Lissa Building offers a unique opportunity to restore some of the College's lost learning spaces, which is particularly crucial for the Divisions of Nursing at AIC.
The Lissa Building (named in honor of Sylvia Sokolowski Lissa '29, Hon '93) was functionally the east wing of Courniotes Hall and housed, among other features, an 1,800 square-foot human anatomical laboratory. Long a mainstay of the nursing program, the Lissa Building was a natural fit for rebuilding the College's lost nursing lab spaces!

Exactly a year ago, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, American International College experienced an unprecedented disruption to campus life when a lightning strike caused a major structural fire in Courniotes Hall and the adjacent Lissa Building.
Fast forward a year later.
The fall 2024 semester will see most of the labs and functions lost in the Courniotes Hall fire restored—if temporarily in different physical locations around campus.
The reconstruction efforts are not just about rebuilding what was lost, but about reimagining and enhancing our facilities to better serve our AIC community. This creates a unique opportunity for the future of Courniotes Hall and what it has the potential to become!

The School of Education at AIC offers 14 graduate-level certification programs leading to licensure. The certification programs include 5 initial licensure programs, 2 professional programs, 1 reading specialists program, 2 support personnel programs, and 3 school administration programs. Programs leading to the M.Ed and CAGS include those designed for both non-licensure and licensure certification purposes.
Educator preparation programs offered for the licensure certification of personnel in public schools and districts are all approved by the Department of Secondary and Elementary Education (DESE) and are specific to Massachusetts. Educator preparation programs offered include those for teachers, counselors, and leaders.
The bachelor’s degree in educational studies is designed for undergraduates at AIC aspiring to enter one of the SOE’s graduate programs for their M.Ed to become teachers or counselors.
The degree includes select courses, service learning, and campus/community experiences structured to help students make discerning decisions aligned with their career aspirations while achieving subject matter knowledge and the eligibility requirements for successful entry into one of SOE’s graduate programs offered at the post-baccalaureate level for the M.Ed degree.

Exciting news!
AIC’s Master of Science in Criminal Justice is now approved for the Massachusetts Police Career Incentive Pay Program—Quinn Bill. Graduates who are full-time police officers in participating communities can receive significant salary increases, ensuring a valuable return on their educational investment.

The Noonan Tutoring Center offers free tutoring to all students enrolled at American International College. It is a peer-based program designed to provide one-on-one assistance and small group support to undergraduate students in a variety of courses and disciplines. Our tutors must meet strict qualifications before being hired and undergo a rigorous training program prior to beginning their work as a peer tutor.
Students also have the opportunity to apply to become a peer tutor with a professor’s recommendation. We believe in a holistic, team approach to work with students from their freshman year to graduation.
