Its GIving Tuesday Everyone!
Don't forget to get some gifts for the holiday season and help out a great cause.
The Grace Period The Grace Period is a transitional house, adult development and rent program, serving St. Charles County, Missouri.
It's not that people don't want to work. People don't want to work for abysmal wages that don't provide them enough to live. They don't want to work jobs that destroy their bodies or social lives.
Our residents come to us employed, that is the number one requirement. Although, we find that is one of the main reasons that they are struggling. They are in these jobs they don't believe in and that are draining them mentally and physically.
It is our job at The Grace Period to help our residents get the employment they deserve. We do this through volunteering resources within vocational schools and employment training.
Help us help our residents become a volunteer and coach our people into a job they deserve.
This year for Giving Tuesday we want to really focus not only on our resident expenses but also on our programming needs.
We are focusing 2024 on our physical, mental and emotional health needs for our residents. This means getting health insurance, expense fees for our counselors helping with mental illness, buying self-help workbooks for our emotional wellness classes, transportation needs to service and so much more.
Please think of all these residents when you think of Giving Tuesday 2023!

What are you thankful for today?
Is it your family gathering? The time you have with your people, maybe? Is it that you do not have to see your family or people today?
Whatever it is, take just a quick moment to realize what one thing that you can be thankful for this year as you think about all Thanksgiving.

You can find our house managers helping residents with weekly meal planning, staying on track with budgets and goals, taking them to the grocery stores to show them how to shop on a fixed budget, keeping up with house rules and expectations of the program.
Thank you again HM for all you do and your dedication.

Tis the season for giving! This year for Giving Tuesday we would like to focus on giving our residents the programs that they deserve and the access to their own physical, mental and emotional resources to help them get through these hard times of distress.
When you give this year think about how much The Grace Period Inc. has already done, helping 7 families graduate and become self-sufficient in their own way and having an emergency fund ready for the next unexpected emergency. We have been open since 2019 and have 7 families who have done our program and are thriving from it, and that was with very little funds. Just think of all families we could help if we had more supporters and people who could help us in our financial situation.
These people are worthy of the grace they deserve, please help us give it to them.

Are you or someone you know in need of something new in your life? Maybe it's financial, occupational, or maybe you just need a few resources to get you back on track.
The Grace Period is here for you. We want to help everyone in our community better their chances of being self-efficient.
Email us by visiting our website www.thegraceperiod.net
We are always looking for volunteers to help us as well. If you are interested, please go to our website under volunteering.
We have all heard about how sleep depravation is robbing you of energy and time for muscle repair. Though the lack of sleep saps your motivation as well. When you are the working homeless , you are working so much more than the average person to get out of your situation but did you know that doing that can also keep you in homelessness because your motivation isn't all there?
Take these tips, homeless or not, if you are having motivational laps then try these steps. The Grace Period wants to be here for everyone no t just our residents.
The Grace Period believes that everything in life starts with your relationship with yourself & others. This course helps figure out those relationships positively.
People express and receive love in 5 different ways, called love languages: quality time, words of affirmation, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch. The sooner you discover your language and that of your loved one, the sooner you can take your relationship to new heights.
One way for us to learn about our residents is to see what their love language is so that we can treat them the way that they will most respond with. One of our challenges with this type of organization is meeting so many different people and learning their best ways to be taught and understood.
T.G.P is not just a business or organization doing classes or housing like we get something out of it. We are doing GODs work and we are here to be a family for those who are lost and without help. We are their emotional support system and the people who they trust.
Our residents are emotionally unavailable most the time they come to us because of how they were treated in the past. It is our job to show them how to understand and to cope with their emotions as well as understand others coping skills.
In the United States, people experiencing homelessness are disproportionately affected by severe mental illness: 25% of people experiencing homelessness suffer from a serious mental illness, while only 6% of the general population is severely mentally ill.
One thing that we focus on more than the housing and budgeting of T.G.P is our residents mental health. We teach them how to separate from their problems and the belief that we can handle those problems. Our residents are in such despair when we first meet and it is our duty to make them feel safe and less stressed. A lot of that start with their mental.
If you or someone know is interested in helping us focus on our residents mental health by counseling, workshops, groups etc please let us know .
F45 Training is where it's at. Our group had so much fun when we went to Faith and Fitness. If anyone is looking for a good workout with a community without judgement... this is it! Please go check them out at your nearest location.

Passionate about making a difference? We're seeing an Event Coordinator to help us create impactful events to support our residents during their programming. If you're organized and creative, send your resume to [email protected] . Let's work together for a better world!
Our goal is not to only give our residents a roof over there head but it is also about planning for their future with and without us. This is why we need everyone's help in anyway they can. Offering the resources is the easiest thing we can do but getting those resources is what makes a struggle. It still cost for our discounted childcare without volunteers, and it still costs us to help our residents get to their jobs or job assistance programs. This is why it is so important for us to get everyone in involved in the amazing work we do.
See what it is we actually offer our residents other than housing.
We would like to thank all of our sponsors from this year. Whether it was a family sponsorship, event sponsorship or you ran a fundraiser for us. We thank you so much for your belief in us. You really have no idea how much we appreciate you all.

Helping those who need it at this time
The Grace Period is not just a transitional house for people in the need of a home. It is a full developmental program helping those who need to be a little more self-sufficient. Our program is for the street homeless, the couch surfing homeless and the long term hotel homeless. We help the hurting to get out of their bad situation and start really saving for the life they deserve. Part of our program is what we call βSchool of Shalomβ. School of Shalom works on the 7 dimensions of well-being. We work on Financial Growth, Occupational Growth, Physical Health, Mental and Emotional Health, Our Faith Journey, and Relationship Growth.
Our program has three different tiers and is based on the needs of those we serve. We start by getting families into our home where their rent and utilities are covered. They start our financial program. From there, we conduct an assessment and start on the 7 dimensions in the School of Shalom. The second tier moves them into the self-sufficiency. As The Grace Period discontinues rent and utility assistance, our residents learn how to run their own household, save for utilities and rent, and live within a budget for expenses like groceries, insurances, benefits, etc.. The third tier works on their continued self-sufficiency and helping them find a place to call their permanent home. This financial component is crucial as a first step while our residents move through the remaining steps in the School of Shalom. We expect our program to be a year long process and to have people into their own homes at the end of our year together.
I am so excited for this non-profit and our mission to help the hurting in our community. Many people are really just having a bad time in their lives and need some short term help and support. Our organization is funded by individual and church donations along with corporate sponsorship at events. We hope you will join hands with us in realizing our dream of helping the hurting in our community.
