💚🏈 MUSIC IN THE PARK INSTRUCTIONS💚🏈

Please park in the lot where the green star is tonight. On Wednesdays, the counties our normal lot for Music in the Park. We will still walk and practice at our regular field but please park in the lot furthest from the park. If that lot is full, you can park in Lot 2 but please only use that as a last resort.

💚🏈 ATTENTION: Due to field conditions, practice will be cancelled for today, Tuesday 7/23. See everyone tomorrow!!

First off, I'd like to say thank you to everyone for trusting our organization with your athletes for another year. We feel honored to be able to be such a large part of your child's experience. We would like to have a quick parent meeting tomorrow around 5:45pm in the parking lot just to cover athlete eligibility this year.

Secondly, please remember that all of our Board Members and Coaches are volunteers. We are not paid and do this entirely because we have a passion for it and we want to give every child a great experience. We are all learning and strive to be the best version of ourselves that we can be but please be patient with us. If you have a concern, please speak with your child's head coach. If there are concerns that the Head Coach cannot address, please see our Athletic Director, Chris Ward, and then our General Manager, Ron Heintzelman. If you are still having issues or concerns, then our Vice President, Joe Pugliano, or myself can be available.

BandApp is our main form of communication. Please ensure you are on BandApp in the 2024 groups for your athletes and have your notifications TURNED ON. BandApp is where all coaches and board members will post updates, cancellations, and other emergency information. You must see a coach or board member tomorrow at practice if you are not on the 2024 BandApp for your child's team. If your child needs a ride, you can also post on Band to see if anyone can help you out.

Practice for Green Hornets football and cheer will begin tomorrow at 6pm, at Kennedy Middle School. Every child must have complete paperwork and a completed physical in order to begin practice. Please check in at the main table to see if your child is missing anything. Payments from the pizza fundraiser and the Equipment Handout are still being entered. For practice, your child needs water, cleats, athletic wear, and their cup. This week is "Hell Week" and it is just conditioning. Coaches will post when pads and/or helmets need to be worn on BandApp. Please ensure you are sticking around for practice to cheer on your children, they will really need it this week! Practice is Monday through Friday 6pm-8pm. Practice begins at 6pm. If your child needs their equipment or needs to exchange for a different size, this can be done at the Shack on Thursday 07/25/2024 AFTER practice.

Our welcome picnic is this Friday, July 26th at Veteran's Memorial Park. We will be practicing at 6pm for about 30 minutes and then everyone will walk to the park together. In order to make this picnic a success, we need your help! Please sign up on the appropriate link below to bring something to the picnic. The organization will provide all hot dogs, hamburgers, buns, and condiments. Every year we ask families to donate drinks, sides, desserts, and cutlery. You can sign up for as many things as you would like, we appreciate all of the help! The picnic will end around 8:30pm.

Night at the Races is on Friday, August 9th and we really need your attendance to make this event a success! Sign Ups are active and all purchases can be made this week at the main table. We will also begin selling raffle tickets for two of our large donation items, a Blackstone Grill with accessories and a giftcard to ICB Fi****ms for a Del-ton ..56 rifle. Tickets for the Blackstone can be purchased for $10 each. Tickets for the rifle can be purchased for $30 each. You do not need to be present at Night at the Races to win these items. Also, if you cannot attend the fundraiser, please name a horse for $20 to help support the organization.

We will be playing at the University of Michigan on October 6th. Players and coaches are free. All family members 2 years old and older are required to purchase a ticket. Tickets will be $10 if you attend Night at the Races or $25 from August 13th - September 16th. This is going to be such a wonderful experience for the children and we really hope you are able to attend.

It’s Equipment Handout week for Football! An email was just sent out with information regarding our upcoming season and important dates. Info is also listed on our website under Important Dates.

This week is Paperwork turn in dates AND Football Equipment Handout at The Shack (Blossom Heath). We will not be letting anyone in the Shack before 6pm. Final payments are due on your child’s equipment day (Cheer final payments and complete registration packets are due during this week). Please note, new players should not arrive until 7pm. Payments will be accepted through Zelle, Cashapp, or Credit Card.

Monday 7/15/24 – Varsity (returning players 6pm-7pm, new players 7pm-8pm)

Tuesday 7/16 – Junior Varsity (returning players 6pm-7pm, new players 7pm-8pm)

Wednesday 7/17 – Freshman (returning players 6pm-7pm, new players 7pm-8pm)

Thursday 7/18– Flag (returning players 6pm-7pm, new players 7pm-8pm)

All paperwork must be turned in completed before a player will be allowed to receive equipment or practice; this includes two copies of the players birth certificate and current physical. We cannot make copies of paperwork from previous years.

💚What a great turnout for our last camp today! All the kids killed it as usual. All the hard work that has been put in since January has shown. Awesome job to all the Green Hornet families that have drove these boys and girls to training and camps multiple times a week for the last 7 months. Your dedication hasn’t gone unnoticed!! 👏🏼

Was such a great day for us.💚 We had football and cheer camp in the morning and then we went and enjoyed a few hours supporting William for his stem cell therapy fundraiser. A bunch of GH families showed up and we all filled up on pizza. Last camp next Sunday!🤍

A huge shoutout to one of our Hornet families at Ray's Pizzeria. They are one of the few people with pizza continually coming and they even closed their store today to make sure they could keep everyone at the fundraiser fed!

Happy Monday! Just a reminder that today is the LAST day for Green Hornet Football uniform fittings. Fittings will take place from 6pm-8pm at The Shack today.

Also, please see the new eligibility rules for the organization below;
2024 Green Hornets Football Eligibility

Attendance Standards:

? Players are expected to attend all practices and games unless excused by the coach. Excessive absences may affect playing time.

? Players who miss two (2) or more days of practice in one week may not be eligible to play in that week's game.

Behavioral Standards:

? Players must demonstrate good sportsmanship and respectful behavior both on and off the field.

? Any incidents of misconduct may result in disciplinary action, including loss of playing time, suspension or removal from the team.

? While previous football experience is not required, players must be willing to learn and participate actively in all team activities.

? Horseplay at practice and games will not be tolerated. Continued disruption of team activities may result in loss of playing time and/or suspension.

? Zero tolerance for bullying, hazing, or any form of harassment. Violations should result in immediate disciplinary action.

? In the event that a player expresses their non-interest to participate in practices or games to the coaching staff, their wishes will be respected and the player will not participate.

Player Safety and Playing Time

? If a coach feels that the safety of a player may be in jeopardy, it is at their discretion, in consultation with the head coach, to determine the player's playing time. This decision will prioritize the player's health and well-being above all else.

? Key Points

? **Safety First:** The primary concern is the player's safety. Any signs of injury, fatigue, or illness should be taken seriously.

? **Consultation:** The coach will consult with the head coach to make a final decision on the player's participation in practices and games.

? **Medical Evaluation:** If necessary, the player will be referred to a medical professional for evaluation before being allowed to resume full participation.

? **Communication:** The decision will be communicated to the player and their parents or guardians, explaining the reasons and any necessary steps for returning to play.

? **Return to Play:** Players must follow any prescribed recovery or rehabilitation protocols and receive medical clearance if required before resuming full participation.

By implementing this policy, the team ensures that the health and safety of its players are always the top priority

Good evening Hornet Nation!! 💚🤍 As alot of you have known the Black Knights are apart of the GH family. With registration booming💥 we have waiting lists for our squads. Which means we have kids who wanna play football but can’t. So we have decided we can’t leave these kids behind so we’re going to bring back the Black Knights football team ⚔️ But we need the communities help. If you have a child on a waiting list or wants more playing time this is a perfect opportunity for them.

We will be setup at DQ on Harper tomorrow from 3-5pm for registration and we desperately need coaches for this to happen. So if your a parent who has a football mind and wants to get into coaching this is a perfect opportunity to start.

As football season ends the Green Hornets are proud to partner with another local youth organization. The Shores Wrestling Club will be holding their open registration on the following dates:
~ 11/9 – Returning Shores wrestlers
~ 11/10 – New wrestlers – Must bring a copy of your birth certificate.

Registration will be at Lakeview High School, and it will run from 6:30pm-8pm both days. The cost is as follows:
~ Registration is $45 per wrestler
~ $35 singlet deposit.

We look forward to seeing as many Green Hornets as possible on the mats this year with Shores Wrestling Club!

As Rd 1 of the playoffs concluded over the weekend we unfortunately didn't come out on top at a few levels. We are so proud of all the players of our Flag, JV and Varsity teams. They played their hearts out all season and we are extremely proud of all of them! Thank you, parents, for a special season.

With that said, our GH FRESHMAN team came out Sunday and beat the #2 seed! It was a great game by our boys in green and white. Our freshman now advances to the Semi-Finals, where they will take on the Grosse Pointe Red Barons. The game is Sunday (10/29/23) 12:30pm at Grosse Pointe South High School. We look forward to welcoming GH Nation out to GP South High School to cheer on the GH Freshman team as they try to advance to the ESFL Super Bowl.
