The Lawrence Group/Integrate Construction Partners design-build team is celebrating the successful completion of City Foundry STL’s newest concept restaurant Expat BBQ, which officially opened on Aug. 30!
The 17,165 SF restaurant is located on the south side of Foundry Way, with an entrance just east of City Foundry’s Food Hall. The globally inspired restaurant was designed by Lawrence Group with three distinct areas - a full bar and dining service on Level 1; a mezzanine level for private parties and events; and a full bar, fast casual dining, and an amazing view of Foundry Way on Level 2.
As the general contractor, Integrate was charged with bringing the unique tenant build out design to life. Integrate President Scott Zola commented that accessibility and logistics posed the greatest challenges on the project.
“Expat BBQ is an incredibly unique, three-story venue containing a commercial kitchen, butchery, and meat smokers on the first level, an historic mezzanine on the second level, and a large bar with grand outdoor patio on the third level. Weaving MEP/FP infrastructure through these three levels and locating new HVAC equipment on the roof required extensive design coordination, BIM clash detection, and unique hoisting and installation techniques given all the historic elements and structure that was to remain in the space. Additionally, the installations of tenant finish materials and a 4,900-pound elephant statue on the space’s third level required exterior hoisting and structural reinforcements not common in your typical tenant build out,” said Zola.
DID YOU KNOW? Construction has the second highest rate of su***des among all occupations. The high stress job also has high rates of alcohol and drug use, as well as a "tough guy" culture.
Su***de is not the answer. Integrate supports mental health as part of our safety conversation and provides resources to crew members who may be experiencing a mental health crisis.
If you are considering su***de, call or text 988 for help today!

Thanks to the Eureka Police Department for providing awesome drone footage of construction on the City of Eureka Missouri's new $11.5 million government center.
Integrate started the project in January with demolition of the city's 44-year-old City Hall at 100 City Hall Drive. The new facility, to be named the Michael A. Wiegand Justice Center after the city’s police chief, will house Eureka’s police department, municipal court and city offices.
The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
Integrate recently hosted Lawrence Group and Integrate's summer interns for a boots-on-the ground visit to the job site of an $11.5 million government center that we are building for the City of Eureka Missouri.
Project Manager Andy Iffrig and Director of Construction Operations Phill Heaviside gave the interns, accompanied by Lawrence Group Design Professional Lorenzo Savage, Sr., an overview of the project and explained specifics about the structure to help them gain insight into the construction process.
We recently held our staff meeting at Fort Zumwalt North in O'Fallon, MO where we are building additions to the high school's cafeteria and main entrance, plus renovating its cafeteria, library and administration offices.
During our meeting and tour, crews were in the process of setting the precast panels for the new storm shelter/multipurpose room addition off the main entrance and library.
Thanks to team members Brett Hennings, Project Manager; Tyler Heath, Project Engineer; and Pete Hahn, Superintendent; for showing us the team's amazing work on the project!
