As the world celebrates National Women's Day, I find myself thinking about the incredible journey ahead of you. Today, while you're surrounded by your books and toys, eager to explore and learn, I want to share with you the essence of this day—a celebration of strength, resilience, and the beauty of being a woman.

You, sweet girl, are born into a world where women have scaled mountains, both literal and metaphorical, to carve paths for future generations. Women who dared to dream, to challenge, to create, and to lead. They did so with grace, courage, and an unwavering belief in their worth. As we weave through our days of homeschooling, I promise to fill our lessons with stories of these incredible women. I want you to see the endless possibilities that lie before you, to know that your voice is powerful, your dreams are valid, and your potential is limitless.

As we celebrate today, remember that being a woman is a tapestry of many threads—kindness, courage, intellect, and love. You are part of a grand tapestry Aurora, connected to women from all walks of life, each with her own story, each a pillar of strength.

To my beautiful daughter on National Women's Day, know that you are capable of anything. The world is yours to explore, learn from, and impact in your unique way. I am here to guide you, support you, and cheer for you every step of the way. Together, we will celebrate your achievements, navigate your challenges, and embrace every moment of this incredible journey.

You see, these belonged to Dane. He had asked to eat some of this candy right as he began to get sick for the last time, and I talked him out of it because chocolate always made his saliva thicker and harder to manage. Now, it sits on his desk… he will never get to eat that candy. 

This $25 gift card? I think he wanted to spend it on Amazon months ago, and I was so busy with life and everything that having a terminally ill child entails that I forgot.. multiple times.. to load it onto Amazon for him. Now it sits on his desk, unspent.. the joy of receiving whatever thing he wanted to get with it unmet.

Life is fleeting.. let them do the thing they wanted to do that has little if any consequence to daily life. Let them play in the rain and get soaked. Let them spend the gift card on whatever junk they see as treasure. Let them eat the candy bar from Halloween. Let them find joy in life through the small things.
