On this day in 2020 one of my best friends and easily one of the coolest guys on the planet passed away in the hospital in St louis. I had known him 40 plus years. My wife and I went on a trip to New Orleans with him and his beautiful wife Lynn and our good friend Howard. It was quite an experience and will never be forgotten. It was the last time I was able to spend any real time with him. Bill Fitzgerald owned and operated the Riverside Reptile Ranch in Stanton Missouri for 20 plus years. He wife Lynn still runs the place and it is one of the most fun things you can do in our area. Bill lit the way for me to go on trips in search of reptiles all over the country by telling me of the places he hunted as a young man. I searched out those place and went to them following his lead and had experiences in my life you could not get any other way. This man was a true friend who could be counted on and was a mentor and friend to many people. I will miss you my dear friend always. This man was legendary in every way. God bless you Bill!

Check out this Hixton blade. The base is cortex and while the ancient knapper was notching it he had a side go bad and deep. I think he just used it as is to avoid losing any length.

A great little group from indiana and ohio we just bought. These and hundreds of others will be listed on our e bay site in next few weeks. The collection goes back to the 1930s and has artifacts from 7 states.

FLINT TOOL MISSOURI / ILLINOIS INDIAN ARROWHEAD ARTIFACT TOM TRUETKEN COLLECTION | eBay It is obviously authentic. It is made from a pretty piece of Burlington chert. It will make a great addition to any authentic collection. I was introduced to Tom by Rick Przygoda, another good friend of mine that I dig with.
