Many of you have been following along as we monitor the ground temperature, waiting for it to rise to 64 degrees, the mark which often triggers the mass emergence to begin!

Yesterday morning the temperature was at 62.6 degrees! Our entomologists rushed to see what it would be this morning and it was... slightly colder! Down to 62.4! 😠

But this afternoon brought storms with warm rain! At 5:00pm the temperature had climbed to to 63.3... and at 7:30pm the temperature is now 63.7 and rising! We believe they are ready and could start emerging as soon as tonight or tomorrow! Keep watch, and let us know if you see lots of cicadas coming out of the ground where you are!
