For Every Child... A Place to Call Home. Resources: Foster and adoptive parenting is a rewarding—but demanding—job.
At our agency we do two things:
Recruitment: We are one of the area’s largest recruiter of foster/adoptive homes because of our partnerships with the local media, including KSDK and 13 local newspapers. We offer many supports to parents, including support groups, training, advocacy, newsletters, two resale shops, crisis intervention services, and our Little Wishes program.

We are thrilled to announce that Trisha Gordon, our Chief Growth Officer, and Heather Craig, our RESPOND Targeted Recruiter, were recently featured in St. Louis Public Radio! 🌟
Trisha’s incredible journey from a challenging childhood to becoming a leader in our organization is truly inspiring. Heather also shared valuable insights about the need for more Black foster parents and the impact of the foster care system on children’s lives.
Check out the article to learn more about their powerful stories and the important work we’re doing in the community!
Foster care advocate encourages youth to ‘accept the challenge’ and move beyond adversity The number of foster kids in custody of the State of Missouri has dwindled to just below 12,000 as of last month, compared to more than 14,000 in 2021.
Our Closets Are Nearly Bare. Teens Impacted by Foster Care Need Your Help!
It’s almost back-to-school time, and ReFresh urgently needs adult and teenager clothing, including shoes. The other day, a teen who usually wears a size 8 shoe came into ReFresh wearing a size 13. The shoes were literally tied to his feet. Luckily, we had one pair of size 8 athletic shoes for him, but that was our last pair.
Some information we’ve never shared with you before:
1. When you donate to ReFresh, we immediately take the items that our teens like—hoodies, name-brand t-shirts, leggings, athletic shoes—and put them into a clothing closet. The closet is free for the teens. We put the remaining donations onto the floor for the general public to purchase. The proceeds help us find homes for more kids.
2. We will gratefully accept donations of all fabric items, including linens, bedding, curtains, heavily worn clothing and shoes. We recycle these and receive hundreds of dollars each month from the recycler. These funds are used to purchase socks and underwear for our kids of all ages. We provide these free of charge through our clothing closets.
Our clothing closet is bare because we’re serving an additional 500 youth, which is wonderful!
Please spread the word and help us replenish our closets.
All donations are tax deductible.
You can drop off your clothing donations at ReFresh:

Monday-Saturday: 10am-7pm
Sunday: 12pm-5pm
Park in the garage and bring in the donations through the front door.

Our 2023 Impact Report is now available on our website.
We had an amazing time at Pride Fest on June 29 and 30, spreading the word about our work in the community! 🌈 Our staff had impactful conversations and met many people interested in becoming foster parents. It was wonderful to introduce ourselves to those who had never heard of us and to build new relationships.
We made people aware that ReFresh is a valuable resource in the community and an easy way to give back, even if you can't foster a child. By buying or donating clothes, you can support foster families in a meaningful way.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth and showed interest in our mission! Together, we can make a difference. 🌟
