❓❓The Hager Tech Connect team often receives questions about the installation of magnetic locks. ❓❓

The majority of calls involve the magnetic lock not engaging properly with the armature plate. When installing a magnetic lock in the field, it is important to take extra time to ensure the armature plate properly aligns with the magnetic lock. Check and double check your measurements. If these two components do not align properly, the door could remain completely unlocked or locked with severely reduced holding force. Neither one of these scenarios is acceptable in a secure or sensitive environment.

❓❓The Hager Tech Connect team often receives questions about backcheck adjustment on door closers. ❓❓

Backcheck is a feature that reduces the risk of the door opening too fast and potentially causing damage to the door stop, the wall, or other surrounding items. When correctly installed and adjusted, the door closer will start to slow the door at approximately 70 degrees during the opening cycle.

On Hager door closers the backcheck is adjustable so that it can be increased in high traffic areas or openings subject to elevated levels of abuse. It is as simple as adjusting the backcheck valve clockwise for more resistance and counterclockwise for less.

Take your rough opening width and subtract 1”. Divide that number by 2 . This will give you your total door width. For the height, take the rough opening height and subtract 4-1/2”. No additional undercutting is required.❓❓
