This is one of the greatest benefits we have to sharing our dogs with others. Congratulations Christian and Diego!

Did I miss anything: A guide for people buying puppies:

1. Contact the National Resuce to find out if their dogs have been in rescue.
2. If they have been in rescue due to no fault of their own, dis they come and get the dogs at their own expense.
3. Do they health test their breeding stock?
4. Verify health testing at OFFA.org
5. Ask for 3 references of people that own their dogs.
6. Do they have proper facilities to breed these dogs in the first place? I.e. does the breeder live on acreage or a farming environment
7. How are the dogs housed?
8. Will the breeder provide you with mentoring and customer service throughout the dogs lifetime?
9. Is the breeder connected with other reputable breeders?
10. Is the breeder a member of a reputable dog club?
11. Does the breeder have a contract for the protection of the dog they’re placing with you?
12. Does the breeder provide a replacement guarantee for health and performance ?
13. Buying a puppy based on a breeders show ranking does not mean they’re reputable. It means that they go to more shows than anyone else to accumulate points.

If you can’t get AAA answers to any of these questions, you are dealing with a non reputable breeder and should not purchase a dog or puppy from them.

I know that our dogs are heavily coated but please keep an eye on them outdoors this weekend. Especially if they’re puppies or shaved down.

In the beginning, my mentors would tell me the same thing. Jarnell you aren’t a breeder until you have lost dogs. I heard them when they said it but didn’t really HEAR what was being said.

20 years later I finally understand what they meant. The thing that is going to make you a better breeder is time. You have to win a little. Lose a little and cry a little before you become a breeder of Merit.

For all of the new breeders out there under 15 years experience. My best advice is to saddle up, enjoy the ride and align yourself with no less than 3 mentors. If you do the work you will be rewarded with beautiful dogs.

I was having a party one night after the club closed. About 30 people came over. The party was lit 🔥. However, there was a girl who came over and I didn’t know her. Pretty common for an after party. Little did I know that she was a thief and a street walker 🤦🏽‍♂️. At any rate, my dog was not impressed with her at all. I decided to keep my eye on her. She loved my after parties because she was loved by everyone. All of a sudden my dog started stalking this girl. Just like a jungle cat. She leaped into the air and went for the girl. I caught her in mid flight. Needless to say, the poor girl was shaken up and went home. When she left a few of the partygoers told me about her background. I was shocked and happy that my dog basically kicked her out of the party. Ever since that happened I always listen to my dogs if they get a bad vibe from someone I don’t know.
