Did you know? HUD Housing units should be tested for radon. HUD issued a policy in 2013 designed to reduce the number of radon-induced lung cancer deaths in the US. All multi-family homes, as well as most FHA-insured construction must be tested for radon and remediated as needed.

A radon report is required for all mortgage insurance applications and the test must be performed under the supervision of a radon professional. Results and the details of recommended mitigation must be signed and certified as to its compliance.

Recently, we have had many people ask us about the manometer that is part of their radon mitigation system. A common misconception is that it measures radon which it does not. Rather, the manometer measures the amount of pressure inside the pipe.

Although it doesn't measure radon, it DOES let you know whether your mitigation system fan is working.
