Altus Power, based in Stamford, Connecticut, is the premier commercial-scale clean electrification company, serving commercial, industrial, public sector and community solar customers with an end-to-end solution. Altus Power originates, develops, owns and operates locally sited solar generation, energy storage, and EV charging infrastructure across 18 states from Vermont to Hawaii.
In the city that never sleeps, every New York minute counts. And now, in just a minute, New Yorkers can make a lasting impact on their energy bills and the environment with Community Solar — a state-supported initiative designed to make solar power accessible to everyone. Whether you’re renting a cozy apartment in Manhattan or own a brownstone in Brooklyn, you can join the solar revolution. 🗽
When you sign up, you’ll support the generation of clean power from our new 2.8 megawatt solar array — located on parking canopies at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management’s campus in Westchester county. This array is expected to save the carbon equivalent of burning more than 2.9 million pounds of coal or more than 4,700 barrels of oil as compared to utility power! Once this project is live and sending clean power to the Con Edison grid, subscribers will see a reduction on their annual energy costs.
As our VP of Community Solar Nichole Clennon said in our recent press release (link in bio), it’s a win win!

Today we’re proud to announce the acquisition of an 8.5 MW solar array in New Jersey! This ground-mounted project generates clean, electric power that will be sold to PJM, the local independent system operator, as well as Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs), and increases the size of our NJ portfolio to a total of 185.5 MW. It is expected to produce approximately 8,776,000 kWh in the next year — the equivalent of more than 6,100 metric tons of carbon dioxide avoided annually! 🙌

Today is the longest day of the year, and we have many reasons to celebrate the at Altus Power! Not only does it signify the official start of summer, but it also means solar systems will be operating at their peak thanks to the extra daylight hours. In fact, many major U.S. cities will receive as many as 15 hours of sunlight today! ☀️
Swipe through our post to learn more about the Summer Solstice and how it impacts clean power generation.
How will you be celebrating the Summer Solstice today? 😎
On , we’re proud to share the enormous environmental impact of our projects. In 2023, we helped avoid 550,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalents when compared to utility power — in other words, the equivalent of the energy consumption of about 100,000 homes! 🙌 Our Community Solar projects currently serve more than 24,000 subscribers across the country, helping them to save money on their utility costs and allowing them to play an active role in reducing the reliance on power derived from fossil fuels.
Looking ahead, Altus Power is committed to developing innovative solutions that drive our business forward while contributing to a sustainable future.
The next time you drive past a large collection of solar panels in your community, slow down and take a look. Solar farms are made up of hundreds or even thousands of solar panels, which capture energy from the sun and convert it into electricity we use every day. ☀️
Altus Power is proud to own and operate solar farms from coast to coast. The clean energy we generate from these farms is sent directly to local electricity grids so it can be used to power homes and businesses in the surrounding community. This reduces the reliance on energy derived from fossil fuels.

We couldn’t think of a better day to announce the expansion of our Community Solar presence in New York than ! Our new solar project in Westchester, NY, is almost complete and will soon help power the New York metro area reducing the city’s reliance on power derived from fossil fuels. 🗽
This array joins our existing commercial rooftop project in the Bronx and our recent addition in Castleton, NY. Together, these Community Solar projects offer qualifying New Yorkers throughout the state the opportunity to save on their electricity costs and support clean energy in their community. A win-win!

Finally, everyone is focused on the sun and what it can do. Come out today and see the power that energizes Altus and our customers!
But first, here are some guidelines shared by our Health & Safety Manager Wanda Willard to help you stay safe and healthy during today’s rare event:
- First and foremost, never look directly at the sun without proper protection.
- Ordinary sunglasses, even dark ones, are NOT safe for watching the eclipse!
- Special solar glasses must meet the standard ISO 12312-2 to provide adequate protection.
- Look carefully at your solar filter or eclipse glasses before using them. If you see any scratches or damage, do not use them.
- Never look at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun through an unfiltered camera lens, telescope, binoculars or other similar devices. This is important even if you are wearing eclipse glasses or holding a solar viewer at the same time. The intense solar rays coming through these devices will damage the protective filter in your solar glasses and put your eyes at risk.
- If you don’t have approved glasses but still want to see the eclipse, make a pinhole camera from a cardboard box.
- While singing “Total Eclipse of the Heart” is not required, it is strongly encouraged. 🎶
Mostly importantly, the next total eclipse won’t happen again in the United States until 2044 — so don’t miss out! ☀️
Today marks the first official day of spring, and it should come as no surprise how much we here at Altus Power love this time of year. Longer days means more hours of direct access to the sun — our planet’s most powerful and infinite source of clean energy. ☀️
There are so many simple and cost-effective ways to bring more sunshine into your life and reduce your reliance on fossil fuels. From growing your own fresh produce to joining a local Community Solar project, the power of the sun is truly in your hands.
We recently announced the signing and closing of approximately 84MWs of commercial-scale solar arrays from Vitol, the largest independent energy trader globally. The acquisition adds thousands of new Community Solar, school district and other enterprise customers served by a mix of rooftop, ground and carport arrays to our strong customer base across the Northeast, notably in New York, New Jersey and Maine.

Interested in making the switch to renewable energy for your home, specifically solar power? You’re not alone. But like any transition, we understand that you may have some questions.
When looking to make the move to solar energy, a question many have is, “How long will it take me to recoup my money?”
Unlike traditional solar panel rooftop installations that historically came at high costs, Altus Power’s Community Solar program has no upfront or future costs associated with the solar panels themselves. Because this program gives you access to the benefits of clean energy generated by the solar systems we own and operate, we’re able to send the energy you need to power your home through the grid to your utility company, for your benefit and the benefit of your community.
As we work towards a world in which solar energy is accessible by all, we are intentional about meeting our customers where they are, without hurdles like misrepresentation or income-based barriers. Through our Community Solar program, we are striving to democratize access to renewable energy by making it available to everyone and every community. It’s an opportunity to prioritize our health, our neighbors and our world. The environmental issues affecting Earth affect us all.
