In continuation with introducing our PEAK Staff for the 2024-2025 season, please welcome Skylar Cochran. Skylar is leading our amazing instructors as our PEAK Director.
Skylar comes to us from Poplarville, MS, where she danced competitively from the age of 4 until she turned 18. She is classically trained in ballet and studied jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary. Skylar loves to choreograph, especially pom and kick. Her favorite dance memory is winning a state championship in Pom. Skylar joined the ACPA staff in 2018 as a rec instructor. We hope that you love her as much as we do!

We've been working so hard on renovating our Cheer Gym to host more classes, and also to host events for our littlest kiddos! We've added a small scale castle, ring toss, limbo, dodgeballs, tic tac toe toss, small size equipment, and a loft lounge to meet a variety of needs. We also are in the process of adding outdoor seating for the back area! Looking forward to hosting open play and future events for littles!

We cannot say THANK YOU enough to Thomas Franklin at Climatech HVAC for getting our Main Gym and Cheer Gym air fixed up last night after a hot week!!! Hooray for two cool gyms 🎉🙌

Hey y'all! Just wanted to send a reminder that our summer Open Gym schedule ended on Wednesday! Dawg House Gymnastics will be picking Open Gyms back up at various times throughout the week and weekends, but there is NO OPEN GYM tomorrow! Looking for something to do while your kiddos take class at Academy of Competitive and Performing Arts, a fitness class with child supervision included, or just classes not inside a typical gym? We've got options for you! Monday-Wednesday are calisthenics based classes (will have a mix of stretching, cardio, and strengthening) and Thursday is an adult dance class! The rate are $15 class drop in or $100 monthly unlimited package!

We've worked hard updating our three studios this summer! Our "Peak Performance" studio has a totally fresh new look. In addition to three air conditioned/heated studios equipped with lighting/sound/training equipment, students also have access to our dressing lounge! Classes are available for students age 18 months and up. Our Peak Performance Program offers a wide range of dance genres- ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and cheer hop! We also offer cheerleading fundamentals, preschool cheernastics, and cheer tryout prep classes (hosted in our cheer gym) PLUS adult workout and dance classes and dance class for students with special abilities!

📣 Did You Know?! We have developed a brand new cheerleading program based on feedback from parents, and the needs of the Starkville area community. We are very excited to release our Summit Cheer Peak Performers program at ACPA, where students can truly "reach their peak." The goal of this program is to train students in foundational cheerleading skills- tumbling, facials, jumps, motions, dance, stunting, shapes, performing, and flexibly. Our athletes will be "pros" by the time they are eligible to join their schools cheer teams, and also will have the opportunity to join our all-star cheer teams once their foundational base skills have been developed.

Our preschool cheernastics, both levels of fundamental cheerleading classes, and our cheer-hop dance class will also have the opportunity to perform in our spring recital, enabling them to build their confidence and performance abilities.

We have also added a weekly cheer open gym time slot, as well as a specific weekly cheer prep class for students prepping for their respective school auditions (7-12 graders).

Up next is Katelyn (Kee) Kaplan! We are so excited to have Katelyn returning to us this season. Katelyn will be teaching 3-4 Year Old Ballet + Tap, 3-4 Year Old Ballet + Jazz, and 5-7 Year Old Ballet + Jazz.

My name is Katelyn Kaplan, I’m from Starkville, MS. I have been dancing for 13 years, 10 of those being with Apex Dance Company. I’ve trained in all genres of dance and I have been a PEAK dance instructor at ACPA for two years. I’m a sophomore at Mississippi State University majoring in Aerospace Engineering. I have two dogs, one golden retriever and a hound, who I absolutely love more than anything!!

My favorite color is mint green. I love shopping at Target, it has literally everything I need. My favorite drink is pink lemonade, and my favorite memory from dance was dancing at the Alabama Theatre for the first time! It is definitely my favorite place to go for competitions.

Over the next few days, we will be introducing all of our PEAK Performance instructors for the 2024-2025 season!

Mackenzie will be teaching all Jazz+HipHop classes and all Jazz + Tap!

Hi, my name is Mackenzie Owen and I am from Poplarville, MS. I have danced a total of 19 years, including 17 years of studio dance and 2 years of college dance team at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. A fun fact about me is that I have been to four Morgan Wallen concerts. One of my favorite dance memories is going back to my old studios recital after graduating and doing one last closing number with my dance teacher and one of my close, big-sister like friends. Another one of my favorite dance memories is when my teammates threw me a surprise birthday party in my room at UDA camp my freshman year after getting done with practice at 2 am !

First off, we are very excited to announce that Reg Shurden (ACPA's Program Director and Head Coach of Dawg House Gymnastics at ACPA for the past 13 years), will be assuming ownership in August of the Dawg House Gymnastics and Tumbling programming and gym area events located at ACPA. We are also moving to a fully streamlined registration process for all classes and events. Through utilizing the links above, you will be able to see available classes and prices, register your student(s), pay, receive class emails and updates, drop (if needed), etc. all in one place! Upon setting up your account, you will see what all is available for your student to register for based on their age and will be able to enroll you student directly. PEAK ATHLETICS:
Housing FOUR performance teams for your athlete beginning at 18 months! 17 performance track classes ready for your athlete!

APEX PEAK: dance program focusing on performance values. These dancers will be in our Annual Recital May 17-18. There are NO competitions associated with APEX PEAK. This option is replacing our former recreational option.

SUMMIT PEAK: Cheer training focused on improving jumps, tumbling, technique, and motions. Options starting at 3 years of age. These athletes will be in our annual recital May 17-18 as well! We will also offer Cheer Tryout prep classes for athletes 12+. This class will focus on tryout preparations.
