Researchers believe that CBD’s ability to act on the endocannabinoid system and other brain signaling systems may provide benefits for those with neurological disorders.

Sativex, an oral spray consisting of CBD and THC, has been proven to be a safe and effective way to reduce muscle spasticity in people with multiple sclerosis.
One study found that Sativex reduced spasms in 75% of 276 people with multiple sclerosis who were experiencing muscle spasticity that was resistant to medication.

The evidence for cannabidiol health benefits

Recently the FDA approved the first ever cannabis-derived medicine for these conditions, Epidiolex, which contains CBD.

How is cannabidiol different from ma*****na?

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is the second most prevalent of the active ingredients of cannabis (ma*****na). While CBD is an essential component of medical ma*****na, it is derived directly from the h**p plant, which is a cousin of the ma*****na plant. While CBD is a component of ma*****na (one of hundreds), by itself it does not cause a “high.” According to a report from the World Health Organization, “In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”
