Update: Hello everyone. Thank you all so much for waiting patiently till we heard back. Unfortunately, our loan hasn’t worked out. Because of this my partner Diểm Thuý Nguyễn is also going to be stepping away from this project. Now while this is not the greatest of news. I assure you I am not giving up on this project.

I will be continuing to work and save money to launch this back off the ground.

I’d also like to say that I am very sorry for the silence during this process. I didn’t expect it to take this long to hear back, and I didn’t want to raise anyones hopes in case something like this happened.

If you all still wish to help me get laughing bird off the ground I am seeking to meet with investors. If you happen to know anybody, please send them my way. I will also be leaving the gofundme up for now, as well as the raffle (since the raffle is supposed to end when we open)

UPDATE: We are unfortunately still in the approval process for a loan. We have had multiple postponements with this but we should have some news in the next couple weeks.

Update: We are currently awaiting feedback about a loan submitted to the SCCF. Unfortunately there have been several delays in regards to the meeting which is why we have been silent for such a long time. We DO have additional things in the works behind the scenes but we are reliant on the results of this loan so that’s all we can say at this time.

THE OFFICIAL RAFFLE RULES

[FUNDRAISING RAFFLE]

In the hopes of incentivizing our gofundme, we decided that we would hold a raffle for people to enter into.



Our prizes include:

-One years worth of free pho
-One years worth of free boba tea
-Various gift cards and certificates to local businesses


HOW DO I ENTER THE RAFFLE?

An entry into the raffle is 1$ USD. You may purchase additional entries as you deem fit. On top of paying 1$ You must ALSO follow the Laughing Bird Pho page on Facebook and share the gofundme on your Facebook or Instagram, and message the share to the Laughing Bird Pho page.

HOWEVER. There will be various days where tables will be set up at specific locations where you can go pay and take a picture of your stub. Keep an eye on our social media and gofundme for more information



HOW CAN I CHECK MY STUB?

We will send you your stubs via Private Messaging over our official Laughing Bird page, or we can let you take a picture of it yourself physically at specific locations. We will also be keeping track of it for you in a google spreadsheet that you can always message us for info on just in case



HOW WILL I KNOW IF I WON?

We will announce our winners over social media, as well as in store during our opening day.



[PATRON CO-OPETITION]

On top of this central fundraiser we will be hosting a patron contest. Where dedicated patrons of the Laughing Bird Community can contact us to sell tickets and compete for selling the most amount of tickets



Prizes include

-Lifetime discounts on orders from the restaurant ranging from 10-20% based on ticket sales.

under 250 sales = 10% on orders of 50$ or less
250 sales = 15% on orders of 50$ or less
500 sales = 20% on orders of 50$ or less

HOWEVER reaching certain overall ticket sale thresholds will net additional discounts to other participants after the first place winner.



Every 200 tickets every participant gets access to the same opportunities as the first place winner starting at 10%. They will still need to sell to the minimum milestones to increase their discount rate (250, 500)



HOW DO I GET THE TICKETS TO SELL?

You will merely need to pay in advance for the tickets you plan on selling (Increments of 10) then come pick up tickets from us at one of our physical locations that will be posted on our Facebook and Instagram.



WHAT DO I NEED TO KEEP TRACK OF WHEN SELLING THE TICKETS?

You must simply get the name, email, ticket number, message that info to us, and let them take a picture. After that you just have to return the ticket to us. The money you make from selling the ticket is yours.



DOES MY PREVIOUS DONATION COUNT TOWARDS THE RAFFLE?

Previous donations will not be seen as retroactive entries into the raffle, however they will still be taken into account for the Ruby Dragon spot.

Allow me (Logan) to introduce you to my partner: Diểm Thuý Nguyễn. Originally from Saigon, Vietnam, Diểm has lived in Staunton most of her life. She has worked in various career fields throughout her life here, and has been someone who was instrumental to establishing several Staunton businesses. She joined laughing bird with the goal of restoring a staple restaurant that so many community members held close to her heart.

First I’d like to apologize to all those who have waited in the dark for so many months. I had been away at school finishing up my last year of college. I promise now that I have graduated I can dedicate 100% of my time to re-establishing the restaurant you know and love that has existed for nearly 6 years in the Staunton community as well as being more active on our social medias. Unfortunately, over the time Rebecca and Michael had to step away from the project to take care of their small family, and they will be sorely missed, however, In the pursuit of accomplishing the task of reestablishing Laughing Bird they have led me to someone that is the perfect fit for the business.

There will be a announcement tomorrow on who that is. But definitely keep an eye out, you won’t wanna miss it 👀

We will also be revitalizing our gofundme with a brand new section for people to participate in.

The Laughing Bird Raffle. We will be running a raffle for the continued future to raise more capital, and offer a lot more prizes for those who participate. The top winner of the raffle will win a years worth of free Pho, secondary prizes include a years worth of free boba, and various downtown gift cards and coupons. To enter the raffle, you must merely donate a dollar to our gofundme, and share our page to get a single entry (1) you can additionally apply for more entries based on the monetary amount that you donate.

But that’s not all. We want to recruit your help! There will be a secondary co-opetition held amongst our dedicated patrons who would like to assist in this endeavor. You can contact us as a fundraiser and purchase tickets to in turn sell to people. Each number you rack up can earn you lifelong discounts starting at 10%.

We broke $2,500! We appreciate all the love and support in the comments, and in the community. It means the world to us. Please continue to support us in our endeavors.

ANNOUNCEMENT: We are back and under new management! In November of 2021, Laughing Bird had served what was thought to be their last bowl of pho. Around the same time, long-time employee and manager Logan Davenport pulled a team together with Michael and Rebecca Wonderley, and purchased the company in hopes of restoring it to its former glory.

Today and tomorrow 11-3 are our last days! Come in and get your fix (while supplies last!) 😄

You may have noticed that our hours lately have been a little unpredictable. Sometimes we are just too short-staffed, and sometimes we have been so busy that we sell out! Today (Thursday) we will be closing at 3:30 and we will reopen at 3:30 pm tomorrow (Friday). Saturday we plan to be open our full hours of 11-9. Beginning Monday, October 18th, however, we will change to a lunch-only schedule of 11-3:30.

This brings us to our second announcement: while we have had a wonderful time operating Laughing Bird for the past six years, an opportunity for a change has come up in our lives that we don't want to miss. We are planning for November 20th to be the restaurant's last official day.

Laughing Bird will be closed on Sundays for the next few weeks while our hardworking staff gets some much needed rest. We'll see you on Monday!

Check out our new offering... shiitakes! These delicious mushrooms are now available in our vegetarian pho and on the banh mi. Due to popular demand, we've also adapted our sauce recipe so that the shiitake sandwich can be vegan! Nom noms for everyone! 🍄🤤

Great news! Beginning June 1, Laughing Bird Pho and The Split Banana will no longer require masks for vaccinated individuals. Until then, we are still requiring well-fitted, well-constructed masks for all individuals entering the restaurant.

This two-week delay will help allow a few more people who want vaccines and have been unable to get them (including a few of our staff members) to receive at least their first doses.

If you have not yet been vaccinated, please keep your mask on when visiting our shop!

We are all so excited to finally get to see everyone's smiling faces again!

Global Boba Shortage!

Dark times are upon us, my friends. Our precious boba pearls are in short supply. And while I would love to tell you that we have a secret stockpile, alas, we have only a few days' worth at best. We will happily continue to make bubble tea without pearls for those who wish it and hopefully supplies will return sooner rather than later! May the odds be ever in our favor. 🧋😔😥
