This week, Paul Meenan and Thyreece Ewart, from the UK Rail infrastructure operator c2c (Trenitalia c2c Ltd) visited SERAPID headquarters in Dieppe, FR regarding the first two "Dual Lift Drive System" lifts at Gray's station near London, as part of the Network Rail "Access For All" program.

The meeting included Russell Sweeting-White and paul hearn from Network Rail’s Technical Authority as well as Iain Mills and John Plowright from Butler & Young Lift Consultants Limited who all witnessed our latest full-size prototypes, test rigs and experimental benches, as Rigid Chain Technology (RCT) reaches the last qualification stages of the Rail Industry Readiness Level rating (RIRL).

The newest addition to the SERAPID Product Line, the DLDS has received certification from Liftinstituut BV! This significant achievement provides full market readiness for the Dual Lift Drive System (DLDS).

These new SERAPID lifts have been specially designed for the public sector, to enable access for people with reduced mobility (Access for all / AFA-concept). Over the past few days, the Dual Lift Drive System (DLDS) has been extensively tested by Liftinstituut B.V in accordance with the most common lift guidelines on a specially constructed test rig at SERAPID's French headquarters.

Obtaining the certification confirms the relevancy of SERAPID products and systems for lifts. Obtaining it within a year of product development testifies how SERAPID staff is capable to adapt fast to niche markets with the highest standards.

Lift Journal published this article detailing the new SERAPID lift project for Network Rail, the operator of the largest and busiest British railway stations. These lifts provide safe and reliable access to the rail network for all passengers, as part of the "Access for All" campaign.

New uses for rigid chains Serapid has adopted a new approach and at the interlift presented its latest passenger lift, based on rigid chain technology.

The Linear Beam is an electro-mechanical actuator utilizing a push/pull chain with the magazine built into the design. It can move loads up to 35,000 lbs. at speeds of 6.5 feet per second, with virtually unlimited stroke length. The LinearBeam is robust and low maintenance, and offers a self-contained, reliable solution for moving heavy loads.

The Chainmast (aka Telemast) is a self-guided and self-supporting telescopic lifting column, providing exceptional lifting capabilities and precise positioning control for loads up to 500kg and distances up to 12m at speeds of 15m per minute! The Chainmast extends with telescoping action, enabling reliable vertical, horizontal or inclined movement. It serves as a versatile solution for various applications, including stage equipment, aerospace and more.

The Chainmast's design allows for the combination of multiple masts into dual-mast, tri-mast, or quad-mast system configurations. With its robust construction and integration of rigid chain technology, the Chainmast ensures high load-bearing capacity and precise vertical movement, with the ability to maintain static position indefinitely.

SERAPID's Marylou Jugon recently visited a completed QDX (Quick Die Exchange) project with CAVENAGHI E RIDOLFI S.P.A., a well-established Italian press manufacturer since 1922. We supplied 4 Push-Pull systems (4000 mm stroke) for presses, utilizing the SERAPID RollBeam. The system also included SERAPID hydraulic clamps and 2 additional Push-Pull systems for a custom die cart.

The RollBeam is an extremely versatile mechanical actuator, designed for efficient transfer and handling of heavy loads. The rigid chain moves loads with the strength of a solid bar, while rolling up and neatly storing in a compact magazine during retraction.

The RollBeam can easily handle applications up to 50 tons with practically unlimited stroke length, and its telescopic mode of operation ensures an unobstructed transfer area when no load is being moved. This functionality provides a powerful and versatile solution for industrial handling, tool & die change systems, modular venue systems and more.
