The kids had a fantastic time learning how to work with various art mediums like Watercolor, Graphite/ Pencil, Acrylic Paint, Color-pencil and more. Seeing the kids unlock their creativity was such a joy to see throughout the week! ✨

💥Meet your CONCERTium2024 Faculty! 💥

Although cellist Kenneth Law enjoys a diverse career as performer, teacher and author, he considers himself first and foremost a chamber musician. He is a member of the Main Street Chamber Players, and cellist with the Ritz Chamber Players, Colour of Music Festival and Gateways Music Festival. Abroad, Mr. Law has performed chamber music concerts at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Holland and the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Russia, as well as concerts in England, France, Scotland, Panama and Puerto Rico. In the U.S., he has performed at the Arts Club of Washington, the Italian and German Embassies, the Kennedy Center’s Terrace Theater and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.; and Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and Alice Tully Hall in New York City. He has collaborated with such artists as Earl Carlyss (Juilliard String Quartet), Michael Tree (Guarneri Quartet), Ying String Quartet, Norman Carroll (concertmaster emeritus, Philadelphia Orchestra) and violinist Diane Monroe and has recorded orchestral and chamber music for Albany Records, and the New Albion and Telarc labels. In March of 2006, Mr. Law was featured on the nationally televised NAACP Image Awards as a member of the Ritz Chamber Players. In his home state of South Carolina, Mr. Law has performed at the Piccolo Spoleto Music Festival in Charleston, SC, as a member of the Converse Trio, and subsequently as a member of Ensemble Argos and Polaris Piano Trio.

Along with co-author Dr. Christina Placilla, the publication, We Are The Music Makers: Volume I: A Graded Guide to Chamber Music- String Quartets was published in 2013, and is the first in a multi volume set that will cover the myriad combinations of chamber music. The guide serves as a resource for chamber music coaches when needing to assign repertoire to an ensemble whose individual members are of varying levels of proficiency.

💥Meet your CONCERTium 2024 Faculty💥

As a performing violist and teaching artist, NAOMI GRAF’s greatest passion is creating community through music. She performs a wide variety of programs as a chamber musician, recital soloist and orchestral player. Naomi has served as the principal violist for the Connecticut Grand Opera Orchestra and currently performs in the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra and the Palm Beach Symphony. She can be heard in recordings including The Complete Haydn Masses with the Trinity Choir and Rebel Baroque Orchestra on the Hanssler Classic label.

In addition to performing, Ms. Graf is an avid creator of many educational programs including the “Casual Classics” Concert Series in Ithaca, NY and the “Sound of Strings” Lecture/Demonstration for the Queensborough Community College Residency Program. She is currently the Director of the Kol Arts Music and Arts Program in White Plains, NY.

Ms. Graf teaches viola to a multitude of students both privately and in groups. Many have participated in New York Conference All-State and All-Eastern Festivals and have been accepted into conservatory programs. Her “Viola Club” ensemble, which she created and directed for twenty years, premiered “Good Working Order” by Conrad Winslow (commissioned for Viola Club) at the American Viola Society Festival in Oberlin, Ohio.

Ms. Graf has served on the Board of Music’s Recreation in Ithaca, NY and the New York Viola Society. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Viola Performance from The Juilliard School and her Master’s of Music Degree from the Yale University School of Music. Her principal viola teachers include Lillian Fuchs, Paul Kantor and Donald McInnes.

💥Meet your CONCERTium 2024 Faculty💥

Violinist Laura Kobayashi leads a varied career as a performer and pedagogue. A native of Seattle, Washington, she has been performing in chamber ensembles across the United States since the age of 13. She is currently a member of the Kobayashi/Gray Duo and the Main Street Chamber Players and continues to actively perform as a chamber musician throughout the United States. Significant U.S. performances have included appearances at the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina; the Embassy of Bulgaria and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C.; Merkin Concert Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York City; Gindi Auditorium in Los Angeles; Detroit Institute of Arts and the Chicago Cultural Center. Abroad as a chamber musician, she has performed in Wales, Norway, Thailand, South Africa, Argentina, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and Brazil and the islands of Trinidad, St. Lucia, and Puerto Rico. In addition, she has recorded two compact discs of music by women composers for the Albany Records label and has edited for publication a violin sonata by 19th Century French woman composer, Marie Grandval, for Hildegard Publishing Company.

Dr. Kobayashi studied violin with Dorothy DeLay, Paul Kantor, Andrew Jennings and Denes Zsigmondy and has performed in the master classes of Nathan Milstein, Arthur Grumiaux, Ruggiero Ricci and Gyorgy Pauk. Chamber music studies have been with members of the Juilliard, Tokyo and American String Quartets as well as with collaborative pianists, Robert McDonald and Samuel Sanders. Dr. Kobayashi earned degrees from The Juilliard School and Yale University and the Doctor of Musical Arts from The University of Michigan.
