One day from now it's going to be 90° outside and if your coil looks like this, you're probably not going to be too comfortable to say the least. Tip of The Week: The first hot week of the year is about to be upon us and this is one of the biggest things we run across every year. If your AC system is frozen, the issue cannot be diagnosed until it has completely thawed which usually takes roughly 12 hours. That is why the representative answering the phone always tells you to turn the AC off until we arrive. Here are a few key signs to look for to differentiate between a possible frozen unit and any other common breakdown issues.

• If you visibly see ice either at the indoor or outdoor unit where the copper lines enter the equipment, turn the unit off immediately. If you can see ice on the lines then it is a guarantee that either the compressor or indoor coil are already completely frozen solid.

• If you can hear the indoor fan running but don't feel any air coming out of the vents, turn the unit off immediately. It is more than likely because the coil is frozen inside and the air cannot get past it.

Running your indoor fan in the on position with the AC off will also help speed up the melting process. So save yourself the headache and turn the AC off to prevent a longer down time! Hopefully this helps!
