We're very excited to work with the Stevens Point Fire Department for Fire Prevention Week! Their theme this year is "Smoke Alarms: Make them work for you!". Residential smoke alarms play a vital role in helping protect you and your loved ones in the event of a fire at home. Kids in area schools in grades K-2 are invited to participate in a coloring contest and grades 3-5 in an essay contest explaining the importance of smoke alarms. The first prize winners in each grade will win a bike from the Hostel Shoppe worth up to $650! The second prize winners in each grade will win free custard for a year from Culver's and free food and drink gift cards from Kwik Trip! Prizes will be awarded at the Fire Prevention Week Open House on October 12th at Fire Station 1, 1701 Franklin St., from 11am to 2pm. Good luck kids!

This weekend the SPASH and CWC Mountain Bike Teams are headed to Cable, Wisconsin for the NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association) race at Telemark. Hostel Shoppe wants to wish them "Good Luck!" in the first race of the season. Pictured are Jakob, Eli, Sebastian and Clayton.

One of the things we hear recumbent riders say is, "How do I mount a headlight (or other accessories)?" Recently, we had a customer wanting to attach a headlight to his Brose motor on his Azub trike. We also get customers wanting to attach phone mounts, GPS, cycling computers, bells, etc.

Hostel Shoppe has lots of mounting solutions, but this week we are featuring the Minoura SWG-400 Swing Grip Accessory Mount. The Minoura SWG-400 accessory mount is a convenient and easy-to-install accessory mount with an adjustable angle that makes adding accessories, like lights, mirrors, computers, phone holders, GPS, and more, easy. It works great for many recumbent bike and trike applications, as well as upright bikes.

We were really excited to have Matt Galat of JaYoe Nation here at the Pedal Point Rally last month. Matt is known for documenting his world travels featuring recumbent trikes on YouTube and currently rides an AZUB recumbents. In addition to presenting a seminar on his world travels at the rally, he also created three videos featuring the Pedal Point Rally and well as one featuring our local bike trail, The Green Circle. We're excited to announce some new updates for ICE Trikes. They have recently updated their drivetrain, motor and component options, including new Shimano EP6 & EP801 motors, more Cues double cranksets and 11 speed drivetrains, new trigger shifter options, three crank arm length options, and a new mirror mount to accommodate trigger shifters. Last week Friday, we had the pleasure of helping Jo get her off-road racing chair into shape for her weekend race at the Case Creek Mud Run in Illinois. Jon, in our service center, fixed her flat tires and afterwards she graciously let us take some pictures with Breanna, Chris, Jon and her service dog, Grit, while she filled us in on the types of events she loves to participate in. This week she shared some pictures of the event, and boy, does it look tough! Jo loves a challenge and keeps on moving with the help of family, friends and her dog. She is truly inspiring!

Jenni & Mike made the long trip from Nebraska to come pick up their Golden Envelope grand prize. They won the brand new pair of Hase Trigos, which included a tandem coupler, during last month's Pedal Point Rally! The couple were super excited to take them out for a spin, and accessorized the new trikes with bags, computers, bottles & bottle holders, and more!
