This is Brooks, our next wonderful Speech Language Pathologist (SLP)! 🎉
Brooks has been an SLP for about 2 1/2 years. She graduated from OSU in 2021 and started working at Stillwater Medical Center the same year. Her favorite part of coming to work is making a positive impact in the lives of her patients. Brooks said being a Speech Language Pathologist is so much fun because it is a very diverse field. She works with patients that have deficits in the areas of speech, language, swallowing, and so much more. She also loves collaborating with our Rehab team members to create and carry out an individualized treatment plan that addresses specific functional needs for our patients. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with family and friends.

This is Tess.
Tess graduated from OSU in 2023 after finishing her rotation at SMC. She started working at SMC in September of 2023 and said she’s thankful SMC decided to keep her around!
Her favorite part of being an SLP is seeing post-stroke patients who are regaining the function to speak, comprehend, read, and/or write again. She loves using creative therapy to support their healing. When patients are on the Rehab Unit for a week or two (or more), she said it is always a joy to build relationships with them and their family.
During her free time you can probably find her on the golf course, in the kitchen, or on a walking trail. She also loves to collage, paint, read, hunt, and fish!
Thank you for all you do for your patient’s, Tess!

One last shout out post for our Occupational Therapist’s! The first picture is OT in their natural habitat 😂
Throughout April, we honor the strength and determination of those living with limb loss. We're dedicated to helping individuals with amputation achieve their full potential through our specialized inpatient rehabilitation program.
Every amputee's journey is unique. Our team of experts works closely with each patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs. 🧡

We were ecstatic that this couple had the opportunity to view this very special event together.
This husband and wife have been together for 75 years! They met at a Drive-In in Fort Wayne, Indiana 📺🚙
We celebrated Dr Cummings last month for Doctors Day. We gave him a custom bobble head 🫶🏻
Our next spectacular Occupational Therapist is Mara!
Mara has been an OT for almost 2 years. She loves seeing people make progress and go home to do the things they enjoy most. She also enjoys getting to hear different life stories from her patients. Mara takes pride in creating relationships with her patients so they know they can count on her during difficult times. When Mara is not at work she likes to work out, bake, watch sports, spend time with her husband, and do arts and crafts.
Thank you, Mara, for your work with your patients 🎆

Our next wonderful therapist to highlight is Liberty!
Liberty is a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) on our Inpatient Rehab Unit. She has been a COTA for nearly 9 years and has spent 8 of those years with SMC.
Her favorite part of her job is seeing patients make progress, no matter how big or small the progress may be. She said she gets so excited when a patient begins to regain their independence! She also loves making progress videos for her “neuro” patients and seeing them get back to the things they love most!
Her hobbies include playing with her kids and going to all their activities. She enjoys running and lifting weights in her free time. She confessed she’s very competitive, so she loves games and sports that involve a good competition.
Liberty was Stillwater Medical Centers employee of the month in November 2023 ⭐️
For Occupational Therapist (OT) month we wanted to highlight our AMAZING Occupational Therapists:
Cat has been working as an OT for three (going on four) years, all of which have been at SMC.
When asked what she likes best about her job she said: “I love to help people restore their functional ability to participate in necessary and meaningful occupations. It’s also very fun to become close with some amazing people, hear about their life story, and be a part of their rehabilitation journey. I also love working as part of an interdisciplinary team to band together and promote the best possible outcome for our patients who we truly become to cherish so much.”
When Cat is not at work, she spends any and all free time making memories with her family. Her absolute favorite thing in life is being a mother to her two precious babies. Aside from that, she loves crafty things, DIY projects, traveling to and exploring new places, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Thank you for all your work, Cat!
We celebrated Keziah’s sweet baby girl today! 🎀
