Well....we tried to put up a Gingerbread House display but that darn Oklahoma wind wasn't cooperating. We're rethinking how that at the photo backdrops can be done without the wind destroying them.

Stay tuned....

If anyone would like to help tomorrow, Chuck will be starting around 10:30am.

There's not a lot that needs to be set up, but a lot of running the cables and connecting everything to power.

11/23/2023

Not necessarily the one in the picture, but if we got a couple of these set up, how many of you would use them?

Our only concern is where we would put them as to not impede the flow of traffic.

To our Amazing Supporters, Followers, and Friends....

If you've been with us for a while, you know we're coming up on the 1st Angelversary of losing our beloved sister/sister-in-love and the 3rd Angelversary of losing our beloved mother/mother-in-love. Losing Sister Griswold (Carol) last December, and knowing it would happen close to Christmas, Chuck just didn't have it in him to morph in to Clark. We were so sad to disappoint our community, but those of you who know us personally, know that our family will always come first.

We decided to go ahead and do the display this year, but hit a bump in the road when we realized the mice who keep getting into the shed had gotten smart and started staying in the loft to avoid Security (the outside dogs 😁). They made a home in the control panels, destroying all 9. Thankfully, we were able to order replacements and have them expedited, and got them today.

That said, I, Mrs. Griswold (Eva), am so happy to let you all know that with the help of our amazing sons, Trevor and AJ, and our awesome grandsons, Tristan, Brantley, and Corbin, we will (hopefully) be up and running at some point over the weekend. I will update closer to time when we have a definite day/time.

Thank you all for your support and love over the years. (Looking at you, Cedric-Ashley Starks and Danii L England! 😘)

We can't wait to see y'all!

On December 11th, at 9:45am, Carol/Sister Griswold went to a better place, free from cancer and pain.

While she may have lost her battle with cancer, she won her freedom over it.

Chuck, myself, and our family, are so appreciative of everyone who sent cards, called, text, PMd, and came by while we were taking care of Carol.

If you feel so inclined, our family would love for you to make a donation in Carol's name to Stillwater Cancer Center, Karman Legacy Hospice, or First Baptist Church Stillwater, Children's Ministry.

Again, thank you to all who helped, and continue to help, us through this incredibly difficult time.

We wish you a peaceful and Merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year.

Several of you have asked what, as a community, could be done for us. I've given this some thought, and....

Sister Griswold LOVES Disney. If anyone wants to send her a Disney Christmas card, she would be over the moon.

The cards can be addressed as follows:

Carol Turner

The outpouring of caring is overwhelming, and so very much appreciated.

Here is the story of the last 2 years....

Mr. Griswold's 90 year old mama came to live with us in 2020. We moved her here from Texas the 19th of December. She passed away the very next morning. Mama Griswold was an Okie for just over 15 hours.

Over the next 11 months, after numerous calls, emails, and waiting, we sold Mom's home and settled her affairs.

During that time, Mr. Griswold's sister was also selling her home and settling her affairs in Texas to prepare to move to Oklahoma to be close to family. On November 11th, 2021, Sister Griswold moved in with us until she found a home to buy.

In December of 2021, Sister Griswold was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.

Our world stopped.

Everything was put on hold.

After months of treatments, illness from treatments, several procedures, and an emergency trip to St. Francis for life-saving surgery, in late June of this year, Sister decided to stop treatment. The beginning of July, Sister was put on hospice.

Sister has been fighting and trying to be positive, but cancer has taken its toll on her, and our family.

As her primary caregivers, The Griswold Family has been spending time with her, caring for her, and loving her, trying to enjoy however much time we have with her.

We would ask you make a donation to:

First Baptist Church of Stillwater for Childrens ministry (Sister Griswold was an elementary teacher for 39 years)

Karmen Legacy Hospice (the nurses have been amazing!)

or

American Cancer Society

in The Christmas Light House's name.

We would be remiss if we neglected to thank Delia, owner of Kind Hands Home Care, for her amazing respite care.

Our close friends check on us frequently, have brought us groceries and meals on the really tough days; have stayed with Carol a few hours every few weeks so Mrs. Griswold can get out of the house and take a small break; and a few who have taken pity on Mrs. Griswold have brought toffee from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and mocha and Chai teas from Starbucks.

We want the community to know it was extremely tough for Mr. Griswold to make the decision to not do the display this year. We absolutely plan on next year being bigger and better than ever to bring the Chrismas spirit of giving back to our amazing community.

Unfortunately, because of an ongoing family situation, we will not have the display this year.

We are very deeply sorry to disappoint so many people.

Hey, you Christmas Light junkies! (Looking at you Danii!)

Most of you know we have a son serving in the Army. He wasn't able to come home for Christmas with his family, but they will be here right after the first. The three grandgirls haven't gotten to see the lights this year so they asked their Pa to keep them up a few extra days so they can see them.

Thank you to our wonderful community for another amazing year of seeing so many families enjoying the display. We hope you had a very Merry Christmas and wish everyone the best for the New Year. ❀

Y'all ready? Ten minutes until showtime for 2021!

11/26/2021

After some technically difficulties, the Military Tribute Tree has been saved, but has put Mr. Griswold behind. He's pretty sure he'll have a test run tonight but isn't sure when. He promises he will have it ready to go tomorrow evening. Show starts at 5:30 and loops until midnight.

Thanks isn't enough to the fine men in our community who came to help this year. We wouldn't have been able to have this year's show without you.

And, of course, thank you to our community. We love giving this little piece of happy every year.
