Hello, I’m Kathy Johnston, owner and artist of KJohnstonArts. I was initially attracted to pottery because of the beauty of its colors and the pleasure I found in well-turned, balanced pieces. I was introduced to throwing pots at Wayne State University in approximately 1976-1978. I stopped when university classes and working as a nurse became all-consuming. After moving to Minneapolis for graduate studies in child and school psychology, I took wheel throwing classes and studio work at Fired Up Studios between 2000 and 2008. Then, between 2008 and 2021, I exclusively engaged in watercolor art. After I retired in 2021, I took classes and participated in studio time at Fuller Park Recreation Center in South Minneapolis, where I currently fire my pottery.
I am inspired by my love of experimenting with color on clay pieces, and trying to make unexpected and brilliant colors on my pieces. I also love to explore the effects of different textures on pottery glazes, as well as using underglazes, carving and embossing on pieces, hand-building, and silk screening onto clay. So far, every piece is a test tile, and every kiln opening is like opening a gift! My art is colorful, decorative, whimsical, functional, and affordable. I am honored to sell my pieces at Locale Makers Market along with so many creative makers, and I hope you will find pottery treasures that you will find pleasure using every day!

CIVIL WAR CANNONS:
Battery I, 1st US Artillery will have cannon firing demonstrations at 3PM, 4PM. 5PM and 7PM on Mulberry Point in Lowell Park - 201 Water Street.

LIVE MUSIC:
Enjoy The St Croix Jazz Orchestra from 6PM - 8PM at the Pioneer Park Bandshell - 515 N. 2nd.

FIREWORKS:
A spectacular fireworks show by RES Specialty Pyrotechnics will begin at Dusk (approx 9PM) over the St. Croix River and Historic Lift Bridge.

In his “free time” he visits and promotes other local restaurants & businesses because that’s just the kind of guy he is. He truly understands that “A rising tide lifts all boats”. I first became familiar with him during Covid when he started a page dedicated to local Curbside Pickup options. I learned a lot about local businesses & have been able to patronize many new places & find favorites as a result of the network he created.

Hello, I am the proud owner of Sierra Oden LLC. Making and creating one of a kind resin pieces is a love of mine. That said, I have taken a deep dive into the world of Light up frogs and hanging moons. I started my business selling handmade jewelry which introduced me to the resin hobby. From there, my design for the Moon hangings came to life. Hand chosen charms and one of a kind epoxy pours make every piece unique. My frog lamps are equally individual and so much fun to create. Having the opportunity to share my art with others has been an absolute dream come true. I am beyond thrilled to be joining Locale Makers Market alongside so many talented makers!
