“OUR COMMUNITY KITCHEN” invites you to join neighbors, friends and family in a healthy, home-cooked breakfast twice a week beginning June 14th. Designed as a pilot project in partnership with Minnesota Statewide Health Improvement Program and Land Stewardship Project, Our Community Kitchen breakfasts will be offered each Tuesday & Thursday morning through the month of August, hosted at Ascension Episcopal Church in Stillwater. In an effort to increase access of fruits and vegetables in local diets Our Community Kitchen has reached out to establish relationships with nearby farmers and growers. Sourcing regionally grown produce serves to support local farms – another facet of our mission. While guests mingle, chat and get to know one another, Our Community Kitchen volunteers select from seasonal produce and local foodstuffs, creating a tasty breakfast chock full of what’s good for you. The anticipated evolution of this project includes exciting opportunities for additional meals to be offered by the kitchen, classes that will teach cooking basics, canning skills, or helpful hints that show how easily convenience can be combined with good nutrition. WE need you! – To make this truly Our Community Kitchen we need our resident friends to invest in this effort: share your garden, your love of cooking & preserving or your donation of money. Eventual plans to expand efforts may include additional meal offerings, creating & filming instructional cooking videos, even the possibility of using our kitchen to facilitate micro-business planning and development. On Tuesday June 14th, skip the soggy cereal, corral the kids and meet at Our Community Kitchen where we offer a place at the table for anyone hungry for food or fellowship. Gather, eat, greet and share delicious and nutritious local food. There will be a donation box where you may pay as you can, or pay for a friend; but all are welcome to join us for breakfast, and to partake of the goodness that grows when we gather to break bread together.
