Morning Stroll
Mitch and Dale going for a morning stroll together 🥰 These boys love to be outside! Mitch is 6-7 months old, now neutered, microchipped, and has been vaccinated. He is 37 pounds and will continue to grow! Mitch is very sweet and loves attention!! 🐾 Mitch is doing so great with his leash training and has become a volunteer favorite to walk! Dale came to us as a stray and was never claimed. Someone cared about this boy at some point because he was already neutered. Dale is about 2 years old, neutered, now microchipped, and vaccinated. He is 37 pounds and done growing. Dale loves to chase his tail and eat snacks! Dale is also heartworm negative! Both of these boys are $60 to adopt! We are open Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm! We are slowly able to get him and his siblings in the shelter to get them vetted and adopted. Badger is between 3 months old, 15 pounds, neutered, microchipped, and has had his first round of vaccines. He is good with other dogs, very food motivated, and needs to grow more. The focus….. the concentration…. the determination! Lola doesn’t joke when it comes to her toys! This girl loves anything that squeaks! Our shelter doesn’t have any play yards or space to take a dog off leash. Thankfully we have volunteers that get the dogs out on leads and walk them or play fetch at a close distance. Lola is 4-5 years old, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. She is heartworm negative and weighs 39 pounds currently. She is continuing to gain weight. Lola knows how to smile and is super sweet!! 📢 Assistance from the public needed 📢 Today, 6/6/2024, around 2:10 PM, this vehicle pulled through our parking lot and abandoned a female dog by pushing her out of the passenger door of the vehicle. Pictures of the dog and female suspect are posted in the comments section. Fortunately, someone was standing outside when this happened and was able to coax the dog to them and out of the road. Talk about right place at the right time! 😳 Let us start out on this post by saying that we do not fault the driver in this incident. Yesterday, one of our employees was outside fixing the mailbox. She thought she heard a kitten all the sudden and when she looked up, she saw a gray and white kitten laying in the middle of the road on Main Street. She then watched as a car drove over the kitten, miraculously missing it. She ran out in the road and picked the kitten up. Thankfully, the kitten was unharmed!! 🐱❤️ Once inside, SAW employees started watching the surveillance camera back to see where this kitten came from because it seemed she had appeared out of thin air. That is when we saw this: a white/silver car turned onto Main Street and once they started accelerating, the kitten fell out from underneath the car and tumbled down the road at the same time an employee was outside by the road. Usually in the wintertime, we encourage folks to knock on their vehicles to spook cats away, before starting up and driving. Now that it is kitten season, it is a good idea to make noise before getting into your vehicle, to give mom cats or kittens a chance to scurry away in case they are hiding out underneath. When driving, be mindful of animals that are in the road and slow down! Do not attempt to go out in the road unless you can do so safely.
