We are still looking for volunteers to join us at Panola Mountain State Park.
We meet once a month at 7 PM at the Nature Center 2620 Hwy 155 SW Stockbridge.
We will be meeting this Thursday 5/9/24 so come join us!
Volunteers Needed
Our Friends Team here at Panola is in need of some additional volunteer help.
If you enjoy the outdoors and being a blessing to others, please consider joining us in our volunteer effort at Panola Mountain State Park.
We meet every 2nd Thursday each month at 7 PM in the Nature Center in the Park.

Our April meeting is Thursday, April 11.
There are opportunities to:
• Work with guided hikes;
-- Assist hike leader in managing the group
-- Learn about the plants, animals and geology of the park
-- When qualified, lead hikes
• Work with school kids in various programs offered at the park
• Work with the maintenance team;
-- Keep trails clean and clear
-- Light repairs of vehicles and structures
-- Take down/remove trees that have become dangerous to park guest
If any of the opportunities are of interest to you, please join us at one of our meetings and give us the pleasure of meeting you and answering any questions you may have.
With the help of a grant from State Friends, we purchased a much needed Tuff Cut mower for our Ventrac. The initial test cuts went very well. Now there is about 5.5 miles of PATH trails that need attention.

Come out and join us this Saturday and help tidy up our Children's Learning Center.
We will be pulling weeds and cleaning the area making it a better place for the children to play and explore the outdoors.

It was an EGGciting morning at Panola. The 45 degree damp weather did not stop the littles from participating in our Easter Egg Hunt.

Our Panola tree climbing instructor Brian assisted these first timers on proper technique and safety to climb our beloved tree Samantha. These happy tree climbers enjoyed the challenge of doing something new.
Yesterdays Spooktacular Sunset hike was FUN! An informative hike where we learned about spiders and bats and many other of our native creatures. At the end one of our friends volunteers had an outstanding fire with s'mores and ghost stories for all. 🎃

Panola Mountain State Park hosted Georgia Cyber Academy Community Day. There were many activities for students and their families to participate in. Despite chilly weather Friends of Panola were happy to assist the park staff to make this day a huge success 🎉

Friends of Panola are excited to welcome Interpretive Ranger Veronica and Naturalist Sara to the park family!! We recently partnered with these ladies and Asst. Park Mgr Jarrod for a fantastic homeschooling event. Ranger Veronica taught kayaking safety on Alexander Lake. Ranger Sara gave an informative presentation on local wildlife. A great time was had by all. Thank You to all that participated.
Your State Parks Day is Saturday September 24th. The mission of Friends is to partner with, promote, and conserve Panola Mountain State Park through a wide variety of volunteer events. More information to follow. Feel free to DM or post here if interested in joining.
The Georgia Piedmont Region K-9 Search & Rescue dogs partnered with Panola Mountain State Park this weekend for a search and rescue exercise. Friends of Panola were on hand to assist Tommy, Darcy, Zimija & Debbie as they navigated the scent paths. They search on land and water where needed. Thank you to this amazing group of volunteers who get called at all hours and are available in our communities.
One of the many projects Friends of Panola have completed are the steps from the parking lot at Alexander Lake to the trail. We meet on the second Thursday of the month at 2620 Highway 155 SW. We welcome all interested volunteers. 7pm
