Today is international bereaved Father's Day. Today we honor all fathers who have empty arms, but carry their child in their hearts. May today serve as a day of remembrance and a time to deal with the enormous pain associated with such a loss.

In February 2023, former President Jimmy Carter chose hospice care at 98, expecting to be near the end of his life. However, nearly a year and a half later, he is still alive and hopes to vote in the upcoming election. Carter's extended time in hospice care has shed light on common misconceptions about hospice.

We are excited to announce that registration is now open for Camp Caterpillar, a special day camp experience designed for kindergarten through eighth-grade children who have lost a loved one within the last two years. 🦋

At Camp Caterpillar, we understand that grief is a journey—much like a caterpillar's transformation into a butterfly. Our camp provides a safe and supportive environment where children can explore their feelings of grief, learn coping skills, and connect with peers who understand what they are going through.

- Grief-related activities like art, storytelling, creative writing, and nature exploration
- Opportunities to express emotions, improve communication, and remember loved ones
- A caring environment led by specially trained volunteers and staff
- A registered nurse on duty throughout the day

Last Thursday, Hospice of San Joaquin enjoyed joining the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce (California) for the Networking Mixer at Kings Card Club! We were thrilled to have our Development Manager, Elizabeth Skinner, and Volunteer Program Manager, Georgie Nguyen, to connect with fellow community members and local businesses at this fantastic event.

It was a wonderful evening filled with engaging conversations, new connections, and a shared commitment to fostering a vibrant, supportive community. Elizabeth and Georgie enjoyed meeting so many passionate individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in Stockton.

We are grateful to the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce for hosting such a successful mixer and to Kings Card Club for providing a welcoming space for us all to come together. Events like these remind us of the power of community and collaboration.
