Yesterday was the Day of Remembrance to observe the date that Executive Order 9066 that was signed in 1942 to forcibly remove Japanese Americans from the West Coast – including over 50 Pacific students. George Akimoto was the art editor made these illustrations for Pacific’s yearbook. He was also the cartoonist for the student newspaper which he continued to contribute to while behind the fences of the Stockton Assembly Center. Later he was transferred to Rowher Relocation Center.
