Lyman Peterson (’24) curated an exhibit of materials on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the middle of the American Civil War from our own Holt-Atherton Special Collections and . Including a hand drawn map of siege lines at Petersburg, Va. (1864). Come see it before mid-summer.

Dr. Rahim Khoie will discuss the feasibility of renewable energy, emission reduction strategies, and carbon capture as tools to mitigate the negative impacts of global warming and climate change.
Dr. Laura Gutiérrez will discuss the history of deportation to Mexico in the twentieth century and the post-deportation experience of migrants.

Undergraduate students are invited to participate in a research study on student experiences with professor feedback. We’re aiming to learn more about how, when, and why professor feedback can be helpful (or not so helpful). Participants will be asked to complete an in-person interview with students working in the Office of Assessment. Completing the interview will take 30-60 minutes. $20 gift card for participating. Thursday March 28th at 5:30pm, Bill Maxwell will be talking about his new book, Booklegger: Anecdotal Recollections of a Skid Row Bookseller that recounts Maxwell’s professional bookselling career through multiple store locations amidst a slew of local and extraordinary characters.
Maxwell, a 4th generation Stocktonian and longtime owner of Maxwell’s Bookmark on Pacific Avenue, has been the Archives Manager of the Bank of Stockton’s Historical Photograph Collection and bank archives for over 20 years.
His book will be available for sale and signing.
In 1930 alum Katherine Case '28 became the first licensed woman pilot in San Joaquin County, and the first aviatrix from Pacific's aeronautical program. ✈️🐅

This panel will discuss Open Educational Resources (OER), which aims to provide a practical perspective into the research behind OER development and its implications for teaching and learning in a university setting.
-Andrew Conklin created a textbook containing a concise and flexible anthology of melodies for sight singing informed by contemporary pedagogical practices.
-Michael Leonard created three textbooks on Beginning Drawing, Two-Dimensional Design and Color and two Art History texts.
-Eric Sonstroem created Pacific Writing!: College Writing for Pacific's Core 2 Seminar, used in all Core 2 seminars.
-Benjamin Zeitlin compiled a database of the top 200 drugs and their dental implications via Quizlet which allows students to reference the database for review as well as export flashcards for study.
Open Educational Resources created at Pacific have saved students over $2M since 2017. Keep it up Professors!!!

Eddie Macon was the first Black football player at Pacific (1949-1951), he scored 34 touchdowns in three years. The Chicago Bears drafted Macon in 1952. He became the franchise’s first Black player. He also ran track and boxed at Pacific.

The rapid expansion of the world’s deserts is evidence of worsening environmental catastrophes of the Anthropocene. Dr. Zhou’s research investigates desertification control in China.
Dr. Davenport will speak on post-exertional malaise (PEM), which is seen in patients with myalgic encephalomyelitis and Long Covid and is a constellation of symptoms involving multiple body systems.
