As most of you have heard by now, we had a fire that destroyed Union Point completely.

Union Point has been there in some form for over 100 years. Our hearts are broken that a historical landmark is gone. Because of current environmental restrictions, we will be unable to get permits to rebuild Union Point.

We have wonderful memories of 18 years with all of you at Union Point. We want to express our gratitude to all of you for being a part of our lives and a part of Union Point’s success. You will remain in our hearts forever.

We are sorry to report that our legal battle with Caltrans is ongoing and anticipated to continue for an unknown period of time. Unfortunately we believe a resolution could take years, before the road changes are complete and other issues are resolved.

We will continue to inform you, and in the meantime wish you well. Thank you for your continuous support,

Friends: We want to keep you updated about every development; most importantly about the major road work CalTrans is performing in front of Union Point, which regrettably will continue to impact our ability to reopen. At this time we have assessed that we must remain closed for the rest of 2021, and likely all the 2022 season, all depending on work progress. We will keep you posted as CalTrans reports updates to us. We apologize for this, thank you for your continuous support, and wish you all a safe and healthy summer.

Dear Friends – Thank you for your feedback and overwhelming support messages received after our April 12 post. We feel extremely bad for all the loyal patrons that we have served since we purchased Union Point that will not be able to attend in 2021. We feel even worse for the many dedicated employees we have. Unfortunately, there are a multitude of challenges that we are facing in 2021,

To begin with, San Joaquin County is still in the red-tier which greatly limits the amount of customers inside and out. Even if we said “let’s start” today, it would realistically take 30 to 45 days to ramp up and open. Now for the bigger concerns, Cal-Trans is planning a complete Hwy 4 shut down starting in June for maintenance with culverts and storm drains replacements. Hwy 4 will be shut down from Tracy Blvd to Discovery Bay for several months. Besides, there’s an even greater issue that has been in the works for several years, Cal-Trans plans to extend the road on the east side of the bridge nearest to Union Point, which will require a 4 to 6 month closure during which Cal-Trans will be using our parking lot area for staging. This will also entail moving our entire septic system with a complete water shut down for an extended period of time, and levee work all around the building.

We are working diligently with all the different jurisdictions to make the required changes leading to open in 2022. A lot is in the hands of the State right now as to when the work will start and be completed. We apologize for not elaborating more to begin with and hope everyone understands there is much outside our control. Enjoy your summer and we hope to see you in 2022

Dear friends: We are sorry to report that due to the continued COVID-19 restrictions, Union Point will not open for the 2021 season.

Union Point is closing for the rest of this season. The added cost required to remain open in this environment has become too high and it is no longer a good business decision to continue this year. We will use this time to plan for a great season in 2021. Meanwhile, we will miss you and wish you all the best. Thank you for your support. Be safe

We are currently doing seasonal maintenance in preparation for our reopening sometime in April or May. We are also waiting to hear from Cal Trans regarding repairs they are planning to the levy and Highway 4 in front of our building. We will keep our web page info current and our phone message updated as we know more about our opening date for the season.

Dear Union Point Customers: We wish to remind you that we are CLOSED for the season. We will resume regular business hours in the spring - until then!

IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO OUR CUSTOMERS: We are so pleased to have your business, and appreciate your patience for those of you who come to us by car, as the Middle Bridge Project by CalTrans has taken longer than expected. With regard to this, CalTrans plans to make Middle Bridge a permanent one-way bridge. We are fighting this as it is seriously hindering our business traffic coming from the roadway. We had hoped we would have some promising resolution by now, and had planned to stay open through this off-season, but remained concerned that we won't have regular Highway 4 access for our customers.

With this in mind, our last regular business day for this season was Sunday October 28th. We will continue to do catered parties and other private events throughout the off-season as we have done in the past two years. We will continue to provide You, our loyal customers, updates on our progress with the CalTRans Middle Bridge Project on our page and in our Website.
