We had a fantastic time hosting the CWEA
Northern San Joaquin section last week for an informative four-hour class on VFDs at our shop.

Also shout out to Ponton Industries for teaching an insightful class on level sensors and flow meters. This was a very informative session for all!

Motors and sand often don't mix well.

We recently received a call from a customer needing to change out their motor with a spare they had staged 'a while ago' since they knew the motor running needed to be replaced soon. Unfortunately, the spare wasn't exactly in 'ready-to-use' condition.

This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of proper storage for spare motors, just as crucial as regular maintenance.

The motor, once shiny and new, had suffered due to inadequate ingress protection. The infiltration of sand meant our team had to replace the bearings and dry the motor before it was fit for use.

Here's a nugget of wisdom from our field experience: Always store your motors in a clean, dry environment with stable temperatures. Occasionally give the shafts a spin to keep the internal grease evenly distributed.

Consider this: If you wouldn't park your car there, it's probably not the best place for your critical motor.
