Delta Valley Diving
We are starting our 10th season. Our goal is to be safe, have fun, improve, and help all of the divers reach their goals, in and out of the pool.
Delta Valley Diving is a competitive springboard diving club in Stockton. DVD is open to anyone with no experience needed. Divers will learn on both 1m, 3m, platform and through trampoline and dry land exercises. We are a small team, and looking to grow. Anyone interested please feel free to contact Robert at anytime, by phone, text or email
DVD is coached by the current SJ Delta College coach, R
What a fantastic Zones for DVD!! Our best showing every with 4 of our divers auspicious for usa nats, and 2 making it straight to Semis!!
dives was the top performer, becoming our first 14-15 to ever win an event at zones! Not letting his lower dd stop him, he set a new team record on 3m while getting the gold! He had almost as good of a competition on 1m, finishing in 3rd place, automatically moving on to the semi finals at nationals.
also qualified on both the 1m and 3m springboards, this time in thr 16-18 boys age group. Benaiah, competing in only his 2nd club meet finished in 9th place on friday in the 3m. Like Lucius, he performed even better on Saturday, taking 5th place and tied for the highest finisher on 1m at zones for DVD.
Not to be outdone, our girls team had tremendous success in Novato.
became our highest finisher in the girls 16-18 age group, taking 3rd place on Friday on the 1m, to automatically move on to the semi finals at Nationals. She becomes our first girl ever to make the semis. finished just 5 points behind her in 5th place, the second best finish of a DVD girl in our history and the first ever to qualify 2 years in a row on 16-18. had a very strong showing and finished 15th out of 29 girls.
On Sunday the girls competed in the last event of the meet, the 16-18 3m competition. All three girls dove very well to finish off the meet. Keira again led the way for DVD, finishing in 6th place to again qualify for nationals. Brooklyn followed her up becoming our first girl ever to qualify for nationals two years in a row on 3m, finishing in 9th. Mimi rounded out the top 12, just missing out on also qualifying by only 4 points.
I cant say enough about how proud of these 5 divers I am!

Our divers are now off to Cheyenne to compete at the region 9 championships this weekend!
Round 2 starts soon for .dives07 in the sac-joaquin section ! The only diver on the Stockton Records athletes to watch for 2024!
A great christmas party at the new ! Divers and parents all had a wonderful time celebrating the end of the year!
Major congrats to .lee.lee signing her letter of intent to dive at Colorado state next fall! Very proud of her both as her club coach but also her high school coach.
Once a ram, always a ram!
It wasn't just our jo kids who had a great meet, but our red and blue teams did fantastic at the DVD Invite! Natalie lead the way with double gold, along with Gavin competing in his first 3m event! Nick was solid with his 1st and second places! For the blue team, Brooks nearly tied a 12 year old team record on his way to gold! And the girls all dove very well in their first meets with Makena taking 4th, Ari 5th, and Marley 7th all while having a great time!
Fantastic DVD Invite by our JO divers today! We had 5 golds (2x .dives07 2x and first club meet with a gold for )! took 2 silvers and .dives took bronze on 3m for the 16-18 girls sweep! went double bronze in his first 14-15 1+3m meet and dove in her 2nd 16-18jo 1m event!
On top of winning both of their events, .dives07 and take home the overall JO champ for highest combined score!
And an extra shoutout to our great announcer !
A few days late! But WOW! What a meet by our divers! We had 11 divers compete at regions (over 50% of our whole team!), with 9 of them placing top 15 to qualify for zones, and two 16th places that were right on the cusp (and still with the opportunity to qualify!). This was our biggest team ever competing at regions, and by far our best showing.
Day 1:We started off on a super strong note, beginning the day with Lucius in the 12-13 1m event and Liam on 3m in the 11u boys. Lucius has had an ongoing rivalry with a Stanford diver since his first Zones meet 2 years ago. Today, Lucius became a 2x Regions gold medalist. He crushed his two hardest dives, 104c (front double) and 403c (inward 1.5) to finish in first place. On top of taking the gold, Lucius set a new team record on 1m! Up on 3m, Liam competed in his first ever JO meet and first ever regions. His hard work since coming back from Covid certainly paid off, taking home the silver medal! He put down his 403c the best he had ever done it and received a total of 30.4 points.
Next up were the 16-18 boys on 1m. Previn and Collin both had amazing meets. Previn, competing in his first ever club meet, had the modest goal of defeating one diver. He blew that out of the park, finishing 16th and just 0.95 points away from qualifying for Zones. He dove very well, having overcome many, many smacks over the last few months to get all of his dives to compete. He did his hardest, and newest dive, 404c (inward double tuck, d.d. 2.8) in for an average of 5s from the judges for an above score of 43.4. Collin put together a very solid 1m list, overcoming some struggles in practice lately to finish his last 1m regions in 2nd place! Uber consistent as always, he averaged above 7s on all but one of his voluntaries. And even more important his optionals averaged just below 7s. His top dives where 2 that hes struggled with lately, crushing his 401b (inward dive pike) for 8s, and his 403b (inward 1.5ss pike) for 7.5s
Last for day 1 were the girls. They all competed at the same time, with Brooklyn and Riley up on 3m, while Leila, Salem, Cate, Savanna, and Trinity competed for a zones spot on 1m. Brooklyn fought back from a very bad smack in warmups to finish in 11th place. She has had very minimal 3m practice over the last few months, but she didn't let that stop her from competing and earning a zones spot in her first 14-15 event. Riley, who didn't have a great warmup either, showed up much better in the meet, cleaning up many of her dives to finish in an astounding 10th place, and punching her first ever ticket to zones! Down on 1m, the girls faced the toughest competition of the event. A total of 37 girls were in the 1m competition. Trinity, our girl with the least experience, pulled off a great meet, competing in her first ever club competition. She had struggled recently with some of her harder dives. But after getting her adrenaline going, she performed optionals, putting 104c (front double) and 203c (back 1.5) for 5s, finishing in 31st, ahead of multiple girls who have been diving for 3+ years. Next up was Savanna, also competing in her first Regions and JO Invite. Dealing with a back injury, Savanna had some struggles on the 1m, but still had some great dives. Her uber consistent 5223d (back 1ss with 1.5 twist) scored 43 points for her highest score of the meet. While she may have been a bit disappointed in her final place of 27th, she didn't let it stop her, and came back to have a great 2nd day on 3m.... Cate, who has had some struggles when it comes to competing, broke her mold and was able to learn how to perform like she practices. She had an amazing 1m meet, crushing many of her dives in her first ever regions! The only divers to beat Cate have been diving since at least 2017, 2 full years more experience than cate! She finished in 16th place, just 0.95 points out of an automatic zones qualification! She had 3 dives score over 40 points, her 5231d (back 1.5ss 1/2 twist), 403b (inward 1.5ss pike) and 303c (reverse 1.5ss tuck). Learning how to compete and not let her nerves get to her was more important than any score that she received, and she still has the opportunity to make it to zones on 1m if her score is better than the average 15th score from every region in the nation. Unfortunately we wont know the results of all the regions for 2 more weeks! Another diver to be super proud of is Salem! She has struggled with diving and confidence for quite a while, but she has never given up. She has put in a ton of mental and physical work since before Covid, and she was rewarded handsomely with a Zone qualification on 1m! Having struggled with her 203c, 303c, and 5231d leading up to the meet, she ended putting all of them in for 5s or better, which was wonderful to see and even better for her confidence! This allowed her to focus on a few of her better dives with less stress, putting her 104c, 403c, and 5223d in for 6s or better (and some 7s on her inward 1.5!) She finished in a very solid 12th place! Last but not least for the day was Leila! having been off the boards from march 2020 to november, Leila has put in a lot of work when she had the opportunity to dive on the weekends. Feeling unconfident heading into the meet due to a lack of practice time, Leila performed nearly flawlessly, just missing on 1 dive on 1m. She was only 5 points short of beating our long-standing 1m team record, finishing in 4th place and an astonishing 389.55 points. Her least favorite dive, 303c, was her 2nd highest scoring dive of the meet for our team, netting her a total of 50.4 points, 8 bingo from the judges! She also crushed her 105c (front 2.5ss tuck) for an even better 51.6 points! These were the 3rd and 4th highest scoring dives of the event and rounded out an amazing first day of regions.... which would only be overshadowed by an even BETTER 2nd day!
Day 2:We started off with the younger boys again for day 2, this time Lucius up on 3m and Liam down on 1m. Liam performed very well, again taking 2nd place. Now that he doesn't spend all his time in the hot tub, his diving has excelled quickly since back from covid! His two high scoring dives, 202c (back ss) and 402c (inward ss) both scored 6s. Lucius had another very competitive event with this stanford boy, but this time finished in 2nd place with the silver medal. He dove very well, putting in most of his dives for 6s and 7s (which tells you how well the other kid dove this time!). His top dive, 403c, and his 201c both scored a whopping 39.4 points. Lucius will look to add a little more difficulty to his dives heading into zones, where both of our boys have the chance to take 1st place!
Next up were the younger girls, Brooklyn and Riley, down on 1m. Riley who has been playing water polo and has had limited practice over the last month and a half, had another solid showing and finished in a very consistent 10th place. Here meet consisted of every dive scoring 5s or better, which is a great indication of a good meet! She put her high scoring dive, front double tuck, in for 6s with a fantastic jump and kick (and of course one of the few dives I missed while recording!). Brooklyn stepped it up on 1m, performing a high DD list, which included front double pike and back ss 1.5 twist, and was rewarded. She beat out Riley for 9th place by 1.10 points total! Her best, and favorite dive, 403c (inward 1.5ss tuck) was her highest scoring dive of the meet, totalling 41.8 points total. If she is able to clean up a few dives and average 5s at zones, she will be moving up the ranks in the 14-15 girls events!
At the same time as the younger girls, the older girls absolutely crushed it in the 16-18 3m event, our most impressive event of the weekend. All four of our girls, Leila, Cate, Savanna, and Salem all had very impressive competitions for very different reasons. Salem just recently re-learned all of her 3m dives after a difficult 2 year time. However, just before regions she had been in a bad bike accident and had to take 2.5 weeks of not doing any head-first dives which could have been very easy to use an excuse for not performing well. However, she never made excuses and with only 2 weeks to go, was able to get her 3m optionals in practice, and was able to do them well in the meet. The dive that she was most worried about, 303c, was phenomenal and went or 5s. She just missed out on making a zones cut in 19th place, but I can't put into words just how proud I am of her for not giving up on herself over the last 2 years when she was struggling to do her dives. Salem wasn't the only one dealing with injuries that hampered getting all the dives comfortable before the meet. Savanna hurt her back on one of her new dives, also had to take time off from learning the final dives she needed to compete. Mentally very strong, she didn't let the lack of preparation hold her back, nor a nasty smack on the same dive she hurt herself on in practice the night before. Savanna fought back from a disappointing 1m event and ended up doing her newest, hardest dives (203c and 303c) for 6.5s in the meet, and surprised everyone finishing in 14th place on 3m qualifying her for zones in her first ever regions in the hardest event possible! Even with a low dd set of dives, she averaged 6s on all of her dives except 2 (and those averaged 5.5s). Not to be out done, and learning how to compete, Cate wanted to join the party heading to Lincoln for zones too! She dove fantastic on 3m, and got her first zone cut finishing in 12th place! She also only had 2 dives average less than 6s which is a huge accomplishment (remember, we are happy with 5s for a beginning diver!). Cate had 3 dives score over 40 points to help her get her zone cut, with her 5233d (back 1.5ss, 1.5 twist), 404c (inward double) and her high score dive, 105b (front 2.5 pike) all scoring 6s and 6.5s.
Not to be outdone by her teammates, Leila had the event of the meet for our team. If averaging 5s is a good meet, then averaging 7s is spectacular, and that is exactly what Leila did. Her voluntary dives were extremely solid, averaging 21.7 from the judges, with her least favorite, 301b (reverse dive pike) scoring just below 8s. Her entries were on point, which stood out from her competition. Unfortunately, she missed on her favorite dive, 105b to start off her ops, only scoring 5s. With no quit in her, she put her next dive, 205c, back 2,5ss tuck in for 8,8,7.5 for a whopping 65.8 points. Her next dive, her reverse 2.5 tuck (remember, she doesn't like reverses!) went down for 7.5, 7, 7 (just like her next 2 dives after!) for a fantastic 60.2 point. Leila ended the day with a silver medal in the event and crushed our former team record by 4o0 points that has stood for 7 years!
The final event of the competition were the 16-18 boys up on 3m. Again, Previn performed wonderfully, beating his goal of taking 2nd to last by beating 3 other guys in his very first 3m JO competition. Outside of a small twist on his inward dive, Previn performed almost all of his dives to the best of his ability, which is difficult to do in a meet! He crushed his 5231d (back 1.5ss 1/2 twist) for 7s from the judges. He ended the competition on a high note, doing his hardest and newest dive, 405c (inward 2.5ss tuck) the best that he has ever done it. In the warmups, he slipped form his tuck and didn't get another chance to practice it before the event. That didn't stop him from averaging 5s on the dive for his 2nd high scoring dive of 39.15. Collin rounded out the day up on 3m. He performed his 2nd best set of vols scoring over 200 points for just the 2nd time ever (thats an average of over 40 points on his basic dives!) and his highest ever in a National qualifying/nationals meet. His top 2 dives were 2 that he had been struggling with lately, his 405c (inward 2.5) and 5235d (back 1.5 w/2.5 twists), both which he scored over 50 points, along with his 205b (back 2.5 pike), which he did the best he has ever done on that dive in a meet. He was disappointed in a couple of dives, in which he kicked out just a bit earlier than he had hoped. However, the starts on both of the dives were 2 of the highest jumps he's ever performed them. He ended up finished the meet in 5th place, which considering that he missed a couple dives, is a fantastic finish.
Again, I can't say enough on how well all of our divers did, from those who were competing at their first ever regions meet, to our 2 seniors taking 2nd place in their last ever regions meets. I'm so proud of how they composed themselves, how they performed, and how they have fought tooth and nail over the last crazy year to keep their skills at their peak, learning new dives, pushing themselves both physically and mentally, all while being limited in the amount of practice compared to what they are used to! I cant wait to see their improvements over the next month as we gear up for zones in Lincoln, Nebraska at the end of june!!!
To see (almost) all of their dives, they have been posted on our team instagram account: delta_valley_diving check em out!
