๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸคWhat an incredible World Refugee Day celebration we had! As we come together to honor refugees and immigrants, we are reminded of our shared humanity and the importance of creating welcoming communities. Here are some of the key highlights from the amazing event that brought us all together.

๐Ÿค Learning and connecting with new neighbors was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed getting to know one another over delicious food, music, and traditional coffee ceremony.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Supporting small businesses was another key highlight of the event. We were thrilled to see local entrepreneurs showcasing their talents and crafts, and we encourage all of our followers to continue supporting these businesses any way they can.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Advocating for welcoming policies for Georgia's refugee and immigrant communities was also a focus of the event. We heard inspiring speeches from community leaders who are working tirelessly to ensure everyone feels welcome and included.

๐Ÿ‘— The fashion show was an absolute highlight of the event, with beautiful traditional attire and vibrant colors. The performers did an incredible job showcasing their culture and heritage through fashion.

๐Ÿ“ฃ We want to hear from you! Share your favorite moments from the event and let us know how you plan to support refugee and immigrant communities in your own ways. It takes a village to create change, and we are grateful to have such a supportive community behind us.

๐Ÿ™ We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our partners, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees who helped make this event a success. Together, we can make a positive impact and create a more welcoming and inclusive world for all. Thank you!

Eritrea's strength lies in its rich diverse ethnic groups, including the Tigrinya, Tigre, Saho, Bilen, Afar, Kunama, Nara, and Rashaida. Each group contributes unique languages, traditions, and cultural practices, fostering a sense of unity and mutual respect. This diversity enhances social cohesion, promotes cultural exchange, and enriches the national identity, making Eritrea a vibrant and resilient nation.

Americans love their coffee but Eritrean-Americans take it to a whole other level. If you've ever had coffee from this region of the world, you can understand why. Dubbed as the "birthplace of coffee", nobody makes a cup of joe quite like Eritrea.

The Eritrean coffee ceremony, called bun, is an important part of Eritrean culture. It's a way to welcome and celebrate with guests. The host roasts coffee beans and serves it to friends and family, adding their spices for flavor. Popcorn, Qolo, and Eritrean bread are some treats served during the ceremony. It's a social event and an honor for the host to do.

We are so excited to watch our friends at the Eritrean-American Community Association of GA as they demonstrate this ceremony for you all at our World Refugee Day celebration later this afternoon. The event will take place between 11-2 with performances (including the coffee ceremony) happening between 12-1. Join us at the Clarkston Community Center later today for some bites, amazing entertainment, and of course, delicious coffee.
