FODAC and Rotary Provide Food Assistance During COVID
October 24, FODAC partnered with DeKalb County Rotary clubs and hosted a Food Distribution event for families and children experiencing food insecurity during the pandemic. Funded by a grant from Rotary District 6900, 1,152 meal boxes (each containing five pounds of meat, five pounds of dairy including a gallon of milk, and twelve pounds of produce) were delivered via semi to the FODAC warehouse. Various metro Atlanta food co-ops were there to pick up loads and transport them to pop-up distribution events around DeKalb county. The shipment represented over 22,000 individual meals.
Thanks to FODAC staff and volunteers and Rotarians from Rotary Club of Stone Mountain, Rotary Club of Emory Druid Hills, Rotary Club of Emory-Clifton, Decatur Rotary Club, and Rotaract Club of Atlanta who worked all morning Saturday to unload the pallets, break them down, and then load each of the coop trucks.
FODAC President and CEO Chris Brand is an assistant governor with Rotary District 6900 (and past president and member of the Rotary Club of Stone Mountain) and was instrumental in securing and managing the grant award.
Rotary motto is service above self. This animated movie won an Oscar for its message. We all help when and where we can.

PAG Lou is back in his “High Speed, Low Drag Chair”! He spent 30 minutes in his wheelchair yesterday and was supposed to spend an hour in it today. He still has a ways to go, but if you know Lou, we anticipate his Success to be Exceptional! His everlasting positivity on life and this adventure have not been diminished in any way!
Your encouragement and well wishes have played a big part in Lou’s recovery! Let’s continue our efforts until he is home as he is one of us!
