Happy Flag day! 🇺🇸 🔹Today my 6 y/o daughter who is graduating from kindergarten tomorrow had a Flag Day concert at school. 🔹She asked me if we could buy clothes with the colors of the flag and was proudly wearing them today. 🔹She sang “This land is your land” with almost 80 other kindergartners, that come from very diverse cultural backgrounds. 🔹They looked so proud and happy, and while I heard them, I wished and prayed they feel the same way as the grow up. 🔹I want each one of them to feel this is their land, regardless of their skin color, where their families come from, the pronouns they use, or where they live. 🔹I don’t know about you, but with everything happening recently it is hard to feel that way now. 🔹It is our responsibility to make sure these children can grow up without having to deal with the recent news so they can all feel this land is their land. 🔹What can we do make this a reality? I would love to read you ideas. Okay #flagday #safety #culturematters #acceptance #respect #responsibility

🔆 Yesterday was the first day of Hispanic Heritage Month. 🔆I would love to spend more time these few weeks talking about how cultural factors can impact mental health in the Hispanic culture. 🔆Would you please let me know if you have any questions about any of this? #hispanicheritagemonth #mentalhealthawareness #latinotherapist #latinoleaders #woc

There is still a lot of stigma about going to therapy when you are part of a minority group, but this is changing. There are also more amazing BIPOC therapists now with different specialties. This makes me so happy because other people from my same cultural background have different expertise than me that I can refer to. Having a therapist from the same cultural background can be helpful. I've had different therapists, but I feel the closest and more connected with my Latina therapist. This is different for everyone, but I am so glad that as a BIPOC Latina woman, I have the option to choose a BIPOC Latina therapist. You have this option too. Let's celebrate each other. Let's work together. Let's model the importance of taking care of ourselves. I am proud of my BIPOC therapist colleagues, and I am proud of my BIPOC clients. Thank you for your work, your trust, and for making change happen. @alisongomezlmft @slowdownpsychology @holistic_terapista @drmarcuettasims @jfmatorras #bipocmentalhealth #latinatherapist #bilingualmentalhealth
