📣📣Call to Action! A couple weeks ago DTA (Department of Transitional Assistance) announced a cut in HIP (Healthy Incentives Progeam) funding that will go into effect in December. All households receiving the HIP benefit will only receive $20/month, regardless of household size. This halves/thirds/quarters (depending on household size) the benefit. The third and fourth photos illustrate what you could purchase at our farm for $20 and $40 respectively. This is a big difference! This cut in funding will reduce access to fresh veggies to low-income households AND reduce income for farmers. Please consider calling your legislators with this script, as suggested in the photos. Script: “Hello! My name is
_ I live in and I’m calling to ask you to reverse the cut to HIP funding. If
implemented, this change will negatively impact the 285 farmers and thousands of low-income households that participate in HIP every month. $20 is not enough to encourage low income households to purchase Massachusetts-grown foods at farmers markets. Reversing this decision ensures food insecure families access to locally grown, fresh produce, boosts our local economy, and supports MA Farmers’ Markets!” Thank you to for the poster images here, for the script, and Kayla for illustrating the impact in purchasing power at our farm.
It’s project season here! Field clean up, flower cat tunnel skinning, dahlia tuber digging and dividing, and painting the new building (a transparent stain—we like the natural wood!) happening this week. 👀Keep your eye on our social media for a fall dahlia tuber sale!👀 Meanwhile I’m mostly at home these days, sneaking in office work during Jasper naps, and doing everything I can to get more Jasper naps. Lots of important work on sleep right now so I can join the crew again soon! A different pace for sure, and one for me to get used to, but it’s pretty sweet to have this time with a cute baby and give him the attention he needs this fall.
Take the heart of Small Farm home with our EVERLASTING WREATHS! Elena has had hers above her home desk for years! Featuring dried flowers from our farm and crafted together by Jocelyn. Makes a great gift! We will have our herb wreaths in November, perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday!
Still have these coupons? You can use them in our farmstand! Can be used on veggies, herbs, and fruit. These coupons expire October 31st so today and this weekend will be your last chance to spend them!
