PYO Flower Field is open! The field is open dawn to dusk, 7 days/week on the honor system. If the farm stand is closed, walk around the stand to the left and find the info kiosk with supplies. Fill up a (provided) quart with water and cut as many blooms as you can fit in. July price is $13, will go up to $15 in August. This month we’re donating $1 for every bouquet cut to . Currently blooming: scabiosa, salvia, snapdragons, calendula, rudbeckia, bachelors button, ammo, and the first of the zinnias. Today was my final day of paid maternity leave from the state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave program. We had fresh fish, broccolini, and blueberries from the first to mark the occasion. I’ve still been at the farm a whole heckofalot (6 am deploying landscape fabric in the PYO flower field this morning 😅) but this paid leave program allowed us to hire more staff this season, so I could take time to build strength before heavy lifting, go to all the baby appointments, physical therapy appointments, and spend afternoons with Jas. I’ve been working plenty still, since the farm is a big part of what makes me feel like me (and pregnancy/newborn mom life can really make you not feel like you) and because there’s lots to do, but I’m so grateful to have gotten to take care of my baby and myself for the last 5 months in a way that only this state program could provide. Note to future business owners: if this program is something you’d like to take advantage of, ask an accountant or lawyer how to structure your business so that you’ll be able to qualify. [📸 ]

Happy Fathers Day to the guy who gets the kids up, dressed, fed, and out the door pretty much every day so that Small Farm can get farmed by me and the crew early mornings. And then has the energy and love for giggles, snuggles and games when he comes home from the late farm shift. ❤️ AND Happy Fathers Day to Karl’s dad and my dad, who Oscar is lucky enough to spend a day with each week. These dads are making our world turn over here, and we are so grateful to live close enough to celebrate all day today!
