Happy New Year - 2024!
PS: I'M NOT LEAVING; just spending time with my colleagues who are retiring.
What a day at KCAL News. Bittersweet for sure, saying goodbye to friends and colleagues who are now leaving us to start a new chapter in their lives.
We shared so many world and local events together, traveled together, commiserated and celebrated life events together.
I'm excited for them and their families; and hope they stay in touch to share stories of their new adventures.
The other people in pictures with me still work with me; was just nice spending time away from the newsroom.
Last night December 10th, 2023 was Jeff Flood's last night producing a newscast for KCAL News (CBS2 KCAL9) after a 40 plus year career in the news business.
We wish him well as he goes into retirement to spend more time with his family.
Here's a compilation of my broadcast day on on December 1st, 2023.
Thanks to all who showed up to take part.

I was really impressed with the West Covina High School spirit and musicality and performance of it's Varsity Cheer Squad, Marching Band and Jazz Ensemble.
These students are as good as the pros and once again showed up for our Toy Drive at Plaza West Covina.
See you all next year and have a great Holiday Season.

The 5K and 10K benefit Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission right in the community.
I cheered on our 9PM produce Ashley Blanco and her mom Linda who make this a yearly tradition.
The cutest part was the little kids at the end who run a half mile.

This nice woman you see with me and Suzie Suh came all the way from San Pedro to enjoy Taste of Soul L.A. She uses a walker to get around and took the bus to get here.
Hanging out at the booth with some of the news team at Taste of Soul L.A.
What a difference from last year when it was cool, cloudy and drizzly. Today was a perfect day to come out and enjoy all that this family event has to offer.
Had a great time today at Taste of Soul L.A.
If you dropped by the booth, thank you so much. It was great to see you.

Was really fun doing this story on Ana Martinez and the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Ana is the producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremonies.
Check out a couple of pics of me from 1994 when I came to visit for the first time as a tourist. Two years later, I was at KCAL News.
Meet Ana Martinez, the woman behind the Hollywood Walk of Fame | Hispanic Heritage Month Ana Martinez has spent the last few decades orchestrating everything that goes on behind the Hollywood Walk of Fame. From ceremonies, putting together who the next honoree is and more, she credits it all to her hard work and upbringing. Juan Fernandez reports.
Spent the morning in the Arts District for this month's CicLAvia It was awesome. Met a Solar DJ, a Magic Thrift Bus, stopped for some live music and discovered many a restaurant I've driven past and never stopped to look. Weather couldn't have been nicer, cool and cloudy.

I had a great time at Lankershim Elementary School today for their career day. I was assigned to talk to TK, K and 1st graders.
They were fun, curious and asked a lot of great questions, and told me their family members often watch the news.
I also learned a lot from them. They told me it snowed on their playground during the recent storm and that Super Mario the movie is a must see.
