A client of mine and I met virtually through an open house I did for a colleague when he decided to hire me as his REALTOR.
We coordinated for him to fly across the country to do a full weekend of viewing properties - over 20 homes in total by the time he had to go home.
We didn't find the one that weekend.
We kept up his home search and I would go view any homes he had serious interest in taking pictures and videos to share so he could be as much a part of the process as possible.
Originally this client had wanted a modestly sized one-story home in a specific area, but I kept finding myself in two-story homes in another area. One day I mentioned to him, "You know, I think we've found your true home type and preferred area. I just saw this listing that is not on the market yet that I think is exactly what you're actually wanting."
We waited patiently (kinda) for this home to hit the market and I knew it was going to go quick so the morning I saw it, I called him immediately and told him to have his funds ready to go along with an offer if he decided it was "the one."
He said, "OK, let's do it!"
Not only did we prevail in a multiple offer situation, but my client was positively elated when he visited his new home for the first time... although, his version of elated was vastly different than my own.
A Marine Corps veteran, man of few words, and not one to be the loudest in the room, he turned to me and said with a grateful smile, "You did a really good job. This was exactly what I wanted and you just knew."
And that right there is why I love what I do so much: getting people exactly what they want🥹

I hear complaints pretty frequently about pets in homes and lingering pet smells. As a dog mom, I know that I’m a little nose blind to my pet’s smell. If you have pets, it’s not a bad idea to have a friend, family member (or ideally your REALTOR!) see if your home passes the sniff test 😅.
If you have multiple pets and carpet, a thorough carpet cleaning might be in order, or simply some air fresheners, keeping pets indoors, using pet wipes to deodorize your furry friends, and cleaning pet areas frequently. Sometimes pet smells can require a little more remediation, though, especially as certain kinds of pets age they may develop issues like incontinence, etc.
